If a foal is born grey will it stay grey?

Never known a grey to be born grey but if it's grey then it will stay grey, yes. Are you sure it's not a blue roan?

Like Wagtail I have never seen a grey foal and didn't believe it was possible. Lots of foals look silvery when born, black especially. What colour are his parents? Do you have pics?

My friends mare had her foal yesterday, it might not be grey :-/ looked grey to me lol. I'll upload a pic...dam is coloured sire unknown (she was a surprise buy one get one free)

So very cute! We had one born this sort of colour at our yard (much more silvery so very 'grey' looking, almost white on 'grey' with his socks and blaze too). He's pretty well black now, six months later.

AWWWW, he's fluffy and cute.

That baby fluff will fall out over the next month and he'll be black underneath. Whether he STAYS black is a completely different kettle of fish. He may still grey out when he's older. It depends what colour dad is.

Oh, what a cutie!!!

He'll be black, most definitely! All my black Shire foals were that colour at birth. There is a caveat, though. The sire of your foal is unknown. If he is grey, the foal could grey out.
