if anyone is looking for a winter project...

yeah me too
i went to look at a horse with a fellow HHO and although she seemed to be very open and honest, the prices on some of her horses just dont see to add up to me.

No other photos?
Sarcoids maybe, depending on were they are...£400 for a 17 hand 4yr old, behave, unless it knackered and can only hack if it lucky...

NO way..they no more than they are letting on!

I think that given the current climate, the fact we are just coming up to the worst time of year to sell a horse and that they are being sold as needing restarting/unbroken that they are actually reasonably priced.

Na definitely alarm bells 17 hh 4 yrs old with lovely paces for 500!!.Call me cynical but got to be something either soundness or saneness

Bull...regardless of time of yr/current climate, buyers are out there..to advertise 2 young horses with only a headshot??hmm, strikes me as they aiming for people that know little and for £400 wont get em vetted(the vetting will cost you as much??)

Sorry but £495 for a 17hh (and I dont care if its unbroken, in fact I would prefer it to be so) is bordering on the ridiculous.
There is going to be something wrong with it, and I am betting something BADLY wrong. No dealer leaves a horse "in the field" if a couple of weeks schooling will increase the price!

Not slagging them,but...
Why have they got a 5 yr old Sporthorse,17hh at that, they have clipped but not ridden??
Why the hell would they wanna sell something like that for £400...that is meat money

Personally , although its an excuse to get suspisious , I am glad to see horses selling 'cheaply'. It does open the market, and iam sure there are bargains somewhere. You could get 'stung' by any dealer selling expensive horses, and if you are unfortunate enough to get stung using this dealer - thank your lucky stars you didn't spend a fortune!

Get real, why would a dealer NOT TRY a 4YO 17hh gelding? If its any good it's worth at least £1500 even if its not backed. I'd guess it really dangerous or really lame or both.
Is the meat trade on its knees by any chance?
There seems alot of very cheap horses youngsters about that do look like they might be worth a punt.
But £400 for that? It must be a maneater

Hmmmmm, there is NO WAY any dealer won't have throughly tried these two out. There has to be a major hang up somewhere and I'm sure she knows, you would get more for them putting them through a sale or prob near on the same if she took them to slaughter herself.

QR - Serious alarm bells going off looking at their adverts. I can't believe anyone would be gullible enough to even consider them....

Well I have just bought the 17hh!!

Ha - Got ya!! As IF!

You'd have to be a loon to even go look at those horses. Oh - and why is he clipped if he's not in work. I'd guess they started riding him, clipped him and then he chucked someone off ... or worse!

no dealer worth their salt will sell that cheaply from the field.

i am very, very wary of buying from the field unless it is a 2yro or under as 99% of the time it means they have tried to ride it and failed!

To all of you who wish to know the actual FACTS on why these horses are cheap!!!! Here are the facts!!

These horses are actually being sold at a loss!!!!!!!! Not all dealers try to sell dodge pots and cover the facts up!!! Prices reflect quirks/condition in the current market! We have lots of youngsters and we havn't got the stable room for everything over the winter months.

They are advertised honestly!

Ziggy the anglo mare is difficult to catch and can be bridle shy ie can take 5 10minutes to put her bridle on!. Has come from a home where there was only 3 horses - old owner which is listed on passport with LANDLINE number can be contacted. This mare is sound and open to vetting blood testing most welcome= She is rideable and not a fruit loop although not a begginers ride! She is not a straighforward mare and is 14yrs old - Previous owner has her 2 offspring! She has been stuck in our field for the last 4weeks! (she is being fed adlib haylage)

The 17h gelding - Maverick - WE HAVE DEFINATELY NOT TRIED HIM if we had i would say!! We let him settle for a week in the stable when he came ( we do let some of our horses settle in you know) he is a baby! We decided to clip him as he was very hairy on clipping we discovered 2 sarcoids and a 3rd on the corner of his mouth which on initial inspection just looked like a bit rub. We decided given the fact he had sarcoids and we have so many horses on that he was to be sold - This horse is well bred and being sold at a substancial loss!!!! He does move well and is a very kind horse. If we removed the sarcoids we would still have to disclose this fact to any potential buyer! so given his age and that he would need schooling and bringing on etc.

INKA - The warmblood x is what she is a bit of a moody mare, nice looking, sound, clean limbed. We have sat on her didn't do anything wrong but didn't have a clue. Therefore in our opinion she is unbroken!! needs starting correctly muscle building etc. We think she would benefit from her teeth doing and a session with a reoutable physio as she looks a little sore in her back.

Bloodtesting and vetting welcome we have nothing to hide.

Dealers can't do right for doing wrong - Sell them cheaply and honestly and we are still up for a huge debate. Not everything is about making a quick buck. Isn't the right thing to place these horses in homes where they will be understood and given a chance with someone who has the time and experience to do them justice/deal with there quirks in a understanding way!!

Any further questions please ring for the facts!

Surely they would still be a bargain at around £1000 each and that way you could ensure the homes they deserved.

Only say this as at £400 you are in danger of the "wrong" type of home, if you know what I mean.

I dont know you from Adam, dont doubt your honesty but I would worry about selling them SO cheaply that someone who cant afford to keep them would buy them.

Hope they find good homes.
