Just had the smoothest buying process and can't believe it all came off as planned !

I went to see a youngster in early January, it was a fairly long distance so I decided to view a 'random' horse in the same area to make the most of the trip.

Rode random horse in the school and decided he was perfect for me, I had him vetted and agreed to buy him EXCEPT that I didn't want to collect him until today (just finished intense job and wanted new horse to arrive when I could take a little time off). Not only did the seller agree to keep him for the 8 weeks until today for me but she refused to take any money off me as a deposit. I couldn't believe it and felt sure the horse would be sold to someone else in the meantime.

Anyway, yesterday I drove my lorry down to Wiltshire and the seller took me out for a 2 hour hack over the Ridgeway on my new horse just to prove he was exactly as described (warts n all) and this morning I handed over the cash and brought my new boy home. Also, seller says if horse isn't right for me I can returned him within a month - and I believe she would take him back in the unlikey event that this was the case. This was a private seller not a dealer.

I don't know if I'd be willing to hold a horse for 8 weeks for someone I didn't know with no cash down but I'm really glad she was

Fantastic! You must have gelled with the horse so well that she knew you were right for each other - though she was very trusting to wait 8 weeks with no deposit!
Good to know there are such sellers out there.

Its good to hear a good horse buying story! When I bought my mare they allowed me to have a 2 week trial on my livery yard at the time with her! There are some nice people like that!
