If i clip now will i ruin winter coat?

Both oldie and youngster are looking quite fuzzy already and I'm a bit concerned about this heatwave the media keeps going on about.

If I do a light clip now will it ruin their winter coats?

It only ruins the appearance of the coat - so only really matters for showing. If you'd clip through winter anyway it won't make any difference (other than meaning more clips)

Unless you are planning on County showing it won’t make a bit of difference. I was thinking about doing my shetland as he was sweating yesterday and he’s started to grow his woolies already.

I’ve yet to see a clip ruin a horses coat. I used to clip all year round and the coats came in just fine.

They’ll still throw a coat for winter, it doesn’t get cold (usually) for another few months anyway.

Ah well...it was supposed to be next week but apparently its been postponed until the end of August. I'm feeling sceptical at this point! ?

Thanks RL. No more showing for us this year.

I'm undecided on whether to clip my youngster through the winter, as the weather can get so bad up here that I give up and turn them away. So it might not be necessary.
