Should I put boots on my horse? Tendon or sport medicine. I have heard things about the legs overheating and this being worse than no boots???

I always boot.

However, I only use brushing boots. My experience of sports boots and potentially muddy ground is not great - mud gets under the boot and really irritates.

So my preference would be brushing boots always.

What would the ground be like where you would be going? I've only been once, I'm currently buying a box so that we can go lots more next year, but where we went was really really muddy and she'd have just got muddy inside her boots and rubbed. We were out for about 6 hours in the end, a long time to wear boots for

Please go - you will have so much fun. i've been drag hunting once and mock hunting quite a few times and every time had the time of my life. its done absolute wonders for my confidence.
I don't boot - just over reach to protect her heels.
My mare gets mud fever so i don't want grit rubbing in and also i am yet to find any kind of boot that doesn't slip under intense work and that is pretty much the most intense test for a boot.
If i found a pair of boots that i felt really didnt budge and didnt let any mud up inside them - and also kept the leg cool i would use them but i havent seen any on the market (esp in her tiny size) that i have felt would do this.
Then there is the question of snagging but thats a catch 22 would you rather your horses boot got caught on something and potentially pulled him down/over or his leg got cut open. Swings and round abouts. Everyone has a different opinion on the subject and i think it really depends on the horses way of going and how prone to knocks, scrapes and injuries they are. Touch wood, my pony is very tough and apart from when she is freshly clipped very rarely even nics her legs she is quite crafty and careful, if she brushed or was a bit sloppy then i would protect her legs more.
Hope you go and have fun!

I don't boot - only because she doesn't normally wear boots. But if your horse is used to wearing boots then do!!

It would also depend on the land as to whether or not I put boots on!!
