If I wash my saddlecloth...

I usually tend to do a empty rinse afterwards to get rid of any fluff and hairs

I vacuum my saddle cloth first if its really bad or brush off with the dandy brush. Usually end up having to do an empty rinse though as well just to make the rest of the family feel better

I'm with M_G - just don't do saddle cloth worn by a black horse before OH's white work shirts even if he is horsey himself

If they are really hairy I go over them with a velcro brush or fine cat brush first
 
I would take it to the launderette, as the last time I washed mine in the machine it got clogged up and my dad had to take the machine apart to take all the horse hair out of the filter, he was not impressed hehe!
