brought your dog back from a hour and a half walk, where he had ran on a field for 1 hour then done some very good obedience and heel training, and as I arrived at your house the dog lay down on the doormat (obviously tired) would you complain ?

I have just took a neighbours dog for a long walk and the owner has said I 'exausted' the dog, regardless of the fact that when she opened the door he jumped up and ran/cantered inside.

Keep in mind I walk her dog for free

Oh. I wouldnt be walking an 11month old for an hour and a half, but its not gonna kill it - just super nervous about hips! xxxx

I was gonna ask how old he was....

at 11 months that walk would have been too much (she's only concerned for his bones). But I wouldn't have been rude, I would just have strongly hinted he had done too much for too long and ask it was more gentle next time.

I kinda have the same problem now (although H is now 18 months) but he LOVES to play and people up the yard go off with him playing ball. I'm not so worried about his joints at his age, but he comes back panting so hard I worry he'll pass out!!!!!! So I've had to politely point it out (I'm grateful for them playing with him and pleased they enjoy it) that he needs to take breaks!

Could you longline him rather than letting him off? I confess I'd be really upset if you took mine out for that long at that age.

Tbh an hours running is really too long for a pup, particularly a large breed known to have hip problems. However, the owner should really have told you what walking regime their dog has.

I would be pissed off given the circumstances, but they should have told you the requirements.
My mother has sacked two walkers in the past for letting dogs off the lead - one dog was iffy with strangers, the other was in an area with lots of loose sheep - but in fairness, she never told them not to :o

I never let folk walk me dogs :p but if I did and could trust anybody I would say "can you keep him/her on lead" or "don't over do walking". I would not expect you to "just know", she is rude, does she walk the dog at any stage and stick to her rulage:rolleyes::D

My dogs are a bit older, if anyone brought them home exhausted I would be thrilled! I have a guy who walks them for an hour, but its no way near enough!
