or is it just something he has to learn?

he has a lot of scope and finds the height of fences no problems, as he will happily pop a fence of 1.15+ and dosent find it very hard work (part of his problem - dosent find his job challenging

)

no, i very much doubt his short neck would hinder him in anyway!
How old is he? if he's finding spreeds hard (ie only just making the back pole?) then that's something he will have to learn.. that or he's just not scopey enough to jump what you're asking.

no he makes spreads easily, he just launches himself over it with no shape watsoever... thats ok, we will just keep on doing grids with him till he has a nice bascule

hes only 6 but green, hopefully will help him learn that the xc fences will not fall when hit *sniggers*

I agree, I doubt very much that it will affect his jump, plus it's not that short it still looks in proportion and is set on low enough that he should naturally lower his head and neck over a fence...he looks very nice though, a powerpack type of horse

no, his neck won't affect his jumping at all, i reckon. personally i find that short-necked horses are very good xc, they're quicker to use it for balance.

I have a short necked horse at home he is a really good jumper. In fact quite a lot of Sj have short necks. The only negative is with dressage as they find the flexion much harder and they do not look like they are working over their back as much.

agree with all the above comments. Lovely horse, looking very mature for his age too. I would be more concerned about making sure that his neck doesn't become too short and tight on the flat, (which would shorten the length of stride too,) but with correct riding I'm sure this won't be the case and wouldnt even be noticeable.
