permission, what would you do?

Am absolutely spitting - someone thought they could just do that, then waltz up to me a week later and say, ''your horse was lovely when I rode her last week."

bloody hell, flipping full livery

She's got her own horse anyways!!!!!!!

I would be totally and absolutely fuming. I would speak to the relevant parties urgently and tell them how angry I was and how I would not accept this ever happening again.

I would be absolutely furious.

I remember one time when I had Jasper [a loan horse], a girl who used to ride at the yard calmly announced she was planning to give another livery a lesson on him. I was fuming, the bloody cheek! She thought I was being unreasonable when I said no way was this happening!

I would be very angry and would want an explanation from the YO, if riding is included in the full livery and the YO allowed this other livery to ride your horse then I would question what else happens without you knowing. If riding is not included in your livery then I would be absolutely hopping and the YO would get a piece of my mind. Whichever I would be inclined to look for somewhere else.

QR -

Have spoken to the person, but they still didn't seem to get it??? There might have been a misunderstanding - a friend had gone down there to ride chloe because I wasn't there, and this was the same day the person had ridden chloe without me knowing - have just emailed friend to find out if she was there.

Mum has spoken to YO too, and she said she wouldn't have let it happen had she seen it - so it isn't the YO's fault. I won't be moving my horse from there, she's happy there, and I have spoken to the person, she said she would never do it again, and I'm happy with that.

Actually I think you are being very level headed about it.
It shouldn't have happened, but flying off the handle as so many people seem to suggest as a first response to any problem, isn't useful either, especially if you like the yard and want to stay.

Ditto P F.
I'm presuming she must have thought it was ok otherwise why say to you that she rode horse?I mean if I was having a sneaky ride on someones horse I wouldn't be telling them how nice it was to ride!!!
Oh and I'd be fuming if it was my horse !!!

I could never have screamed at the person - however angry I was - just not really me.

Exactly - which is why I think there must've been some misunderstanding somewhere along the line. Have emailed a friend, who was there riding chloe on the same day, to see if she was there.

I wouldn't be happy at all but I wouldn't go as wild as some are making out! Blimey, what would you do it someone actually did something bad to your horse?!

I think I'd do exactly as you (the OP) have done- a polite but firm word with those involved. Sounds like a genuine mistake.

Id move. Taking your tack home shouldnt be necessary and as someone who's horse was COMPETED in a different set of tack while I was on holiday when he was meant to be having a well deserved break; i can assure you if they are that determined, take doesnt matter.

Once that trust is broken, it doesnt come back. Id look for somewhere else asap.

If they had ridden MY horse, I'd give them an award for bravery!!!!!!!!

Or stupidity.......

Dont blame you for being angry. I'd be livid. Luckily no harm was done and it seems as if you have made your point so it shouldnt happen again.

Somebody rode my horse without my permission (my mother is the YO) said livery was kicked off and shortly after mother stopped livery business. I'm a very teritorial person so I was not best pleased, not only that but my tack was very expensive, etc etc
