And it was described as very good condition with limited wear but actually several of the holes in
the girth straps are ripped and the binding round the flaps is torn in one place so the 2 sides of the flap are coming apart (synthetic) would you complain? It appears ok apart from that

Yes, good condition with limited wear would suggest marks where the girth has been fastened on the straps and maybe some scuffs but nothing else. Certainly nothing requiring repairs!

Yes, I would email the seller, keeping it very polite. Say that you are disappointed with the saddle as it it not as described and list the defects. I usually leave it at that initially, and wait for their response. If the seller has good feedback, they will normally do whatever is necessary to keep it.

Yes that is not very good condition and they should have pointed out these problems in the ebay listing.

I sold some goods and [shabby chic], the customer complained and I had to refund also gave back P&P as goodwill, actually she cut up so bad there was no goodwill about it.
There is a forum for new user on Ebay which will guide you, but yes you can get money refunded, have a look at their track record, feedback and number of sales.
Take photos of the damage and email to her if possible, then after so many days if not satisfactory outcome complain to Ebay

hi, i bought a synthetic saddle on ebay and it was in awful condition. i contacted the seller and sent saddle back and got full refund. do contact seller first to give them a chance to either refund enough for repairs or take it back

I have bought a number of saddles on ebay, several being Albions. I have never had a problem with them. I have also sold too. I think you are really unlucky and would ask for your money back.

I would probably keep it as it is ok apart from that maybe she could get it repaired although that might cost more than the saddle :)

Thorowgood I'm sure they can be replaced. I am going to get my saddler to come and check it anyway so he can tell me what it will cost to repair

I don't know how much you paid, but I would ask for something toward the repair bill!! That is a fair request imo and will be cheapest option for the seller than if you open a case against them.

Contact the seller regarding the problem. Hopefully they will refund all your costs although I don't think they are required to refund on postage. If you have no luck with them then launch a Paypal dispute with the item being 'not as described'. They will then wait for the response of tyhe seller but in the end you, as buyer, will win & Paypal will refund you......assuming you paid that way to start with.

I would contact the seller and tell them that item was NOT as described. If you open a dispute, you may be asked by ebay/paypal to send the item back ,with tracking, then you will get a refund. I sell on ebay and know that ebay have rules about listing and your suppost to list with as much details as poss including damage etc. Sounds like the seller wasnt being completely honest. WHEN DID YOU BUY/RECIEVE THE SADDLE?????
Good luck. Hope it gets sorted for you.

I've received a partial refund (cost of getting a new lining for a dress that was new but had the built-in petticoat/slip thing missing) to make good e-bay purchases. It left everyone happy.

Go back to them with quote from saddler if you think it is otherwise worth keeping, hopefully it will all come right :-)

How old is it and did you pay much for it?

Girth straps are approx £3 each to have replaced, and the sides can probably be repaired for a £few too.

This may help you - I recently bought a Wintec 500 on ebay, it arrived exactly as described, needed two girth straps replacing and the stitching between the kneeroll to be redone, there was a 6" tear in it. I can't remember the cost of repairs, but the saddle itself was £40 + P&P.
