but your child wanted to do PC would you move to a yard near where the rallies where held?

I suppose it would depend on how much further the commute to the yard would be daily.

If it would put you out alot more to get there daily it could prove less of an expense/hassle to get a lorry/trailer

It would also give you the option of going to other places besides the rallies close by.

would work out alot more price wise and time wise as would have to keep 2 horses onn different yards

I would think about investing in a trailer then.

I think it may put you out more at the start but have a much greater savings in the not so far off future

Not to mention making life easier

i dont drive & oh works shifts so nnot sure if that would work at the moment.

might call PC & see if anyone from my area goes

My kids go to PC and the rallies are held all over the county! so moving to another yard wouldn't help here.

I bought a cheap trailer (£900) had it fully serviced and it's done me proud for the last year taking the kids here, there and everywhere!

Why don't you ring the secretary of your PC branch and ask if anyone lives near you who might be willing to give your pony a lift - you could offer diesel money in return.

Sadly it wouldn't be legal to do that

Insurance, licencing and legal complications.

Private transportation of horses does not need a license. However, to be able to transport someone else's horse, even if they are just a friend, you would have to have a license and insurance.

ETS, that is what I know on the issue, could very well be mistaken

Yes, HB is pretty much right.

As I understand it, you can transport a friends horse, but NOT for ANY form of payment - i.e paying for fuel or even a bottle of wine would constitute payment, and therefore the person in question should be licensed and insured.

Im not sure, Are all the rallies held at the same place because the local ones to here are held all over the place.

As for giving lifts for money, i've always had lifts from others a paid something, oops, never knew that, Ill have a think about that for next season, but i have never been caught out so far.

Could your OH hire a trailer from someone local for the rallies he can make?
