If you didn't like my Quarters video, you might like this

interesting but i still dont like the way they ride them western for showing etc. I know which horse looks the most uncomfortable and it isnt the bigger one.

Beautiful horses though and very well ridden :D

Really interesting to see that the Western Rider did better at riding the dressage horse than the dresage rider on the western horse. In fact I think the dressage horse was actually going better for the Western rider.

It's very alien to see the western style, but for the halt, the western horse stood quietly and there was no tail swishing throughout. I actually thought the western horse looked more relaxed :)

Brilliant! I loved it:)

Both horses were lovely in their own way, and the western rider was very good. Is it me or did the QH seem alot more calm and relaxed?

What a brilliant video! Definitely made me smile :D

IMO it was definitely the little western horse who looked more relaxed and the western rider was fab!

I think the western horse looked more natural and relaxed yes, the dressage horse was well dressaggyy and working hard, where as the western horse would look the same loping around on a hack! The dressage rider struggled with the spin on the western horse, but it all just made me lol.. can't critisize it, it looked great fun and in good hearted! x

I found it interesting just how sensitive to the leg the Western horse was with the dressage rider, he kept losing forward motion at walk due to inconsistent leg pressure so when it was 'off' the horse was seeking to suck back to a stop or back-up. I remember when I first switched to Western riding, my livery yard owner at the time said she couldn't understand why one of the first things you do with a Western horse is teach it to go backwards and give to that pressure.... When I'm flying down a run down these days, I'm mightily glad my horses understand and are comfortable with looking forward to the release gained by going 'backward'!

How interesting!!
I really enjoyed that :)
Don't know much about Western riding, however I definately think the Western horse looks more relaxed!

great vid reminds me why I ride western.. relaxed horses and great horsemanship...
no wonder so many of the top dressage people are having a go and or useing western training methods, thanks for sharing ....

That was brilliant, i loved when the dressager got on the QH and sat poker straight and snooty looking, real comedy moment :D the cowboy looked a great rider and seemed to get a tune out of the big horse.

If any of our Quarters are anything to go by, I would generally say (although there is an exception to every rule!) that they are very laid back! Had to stop riding my older quarter mare today to stand under the tree whilst a shower passed...she stood stock still the whole time but as soon as I picked up the reins she switched 'on' again! :)

Lovely video...my mare is trained western but rides english or western, you can tell she's a western gal at heart but she wouldn't look out of place doing a bit of stressage!
