...what would you do? We haven't caught it - it's still at large! Hawk in question has been living at our farm for 3 months. S/he is wearing bells and the leather foot strap thingies.
I found a 'Lost Harris Hawk' ad in the local vets, so have phoned the man. He'd already had a call & been out, but doesn’t think it's his because the bird wouldn’t come to him. Would you just leave it & let it be free? Or would you ring around & see if anyone wants to come & try to call it down?? I'm tempted to just let it be free, but I’m worried about the bells. Then again, it must be managing ok if it's coped for 3 months with them on...

Use to have a falconary centre opposite us & they use to regulary lose birds! (think it was publicity stunt!)
I managed to catch one of their owls in our barn. Had bells on, when I took it over to them they said it hadf been missing for 5 months & it's mate was still at large! The bird was fat so was eating well.

If you get hold of it then do if not don't worry. Maybe put note in vets that you have one near you???

There has been a notice for a Harris Hawk missing in feed store in Whitchurch (North Shropshire) . Suspect it might be the chap you have already contacted, think he was from just over the border in Clwyd. Does that sound like the same one, if not then I'll call in on Saturday and try and find a number.

No, not the same one - the man i contacted is from Frodsham, Cheshire. If you could get his number that would be fab! There must be someone out there wondering where their bird is. Thank you! :D

Was it anywhere near Kelsall? I saw one there with bells on a few months ago, even stopped riding to take pics on my mobile. Next day there was an ad in the buy and sell looking for a lost one, but no answer to my several messages left on the voicemail - the advertiser even gave a couple of different numbers but no reply to any of my messages, so I assumed they had found it but maybe not according to this thread?

Hope it gets sorted anyway, it was snowing around there this morning!
