I looked out of my kitchen window this morning at 6, and thought "Wow! Look at that deer" on closer inspection, it wasn't. It was this:

Lola foaled, unexpectedly (throw the foaling manual out of the window!) and foalie had rolled under the fence and gone walkabouts in the woods.

It was jolly lucky that there were no coyotes around otherwise it wouldn't have stood a chance!

Anyway, no harm seems to have been done. The nail test was right, Lola has a perfect and stunning, little filly.

Arghh!! I missed this post Enfys!!!

What an absolutely beautiful foal!!! She is totally gorgeous!! Were you expecting this colour? Is it the photo or is she palomino colour? Or is she going to be grey?

I absolutely love her!!! Long live the nail test eh??

Hi Tia,
I did try to pm you, but pc is still being tetchy and freezing me out and wouldn't send. You were right about her doing it quietly, unexpectedly, and you said it would be a filly too

She gave no signs whatsoever yesterday, or even last night at 11, I went in and checked and she was just standing in her favourite spot dozing.
Palomino sire, so color calculator gave us a 25% of a palomino. I'm thrilled with her colour, so strong. I expect her to stay that colour.
Um.....no name, well, yes she will be reg. part bred arab as Lola Mae (Lola for her mum and Mae because it's the farm name, very corny don't make me explain
blush.gif
) stable name to be decided, Evie says Daisy,
OH and I say "Noooooooo

" but we will see what suits her in a few days all being well. My lovely Vet (Equine only, 10 minutes away, I am so lucky) was here within an hour (ugh, Sunday $$$$$$$$$'s
frown.gif
) as he was passing from another call, Lola is a touch colicky but OK. He asked if she was a keeper (No) because he knows a Palomino breeder who might be interested in a PBA filly

I nearly died when I realised it was a foal 100m away from the paddock in the woods, didn't even bother to get dressed, welly boots and fluffy pink robe, most fetching

The odd thing was that Lola wasn't creating at all. Baby had obviously drunk before being separated as the first thing she did when re-united was go straight to the right place for a good guzzle.
I am bouncing about the place, anyone would think it was "my" first foal, first Canadian one anyway. Found a stunning LWO tested stallion for Robin recommended by the Vet, and, bonus, he does natural coverings too

Yes Cloud was colicky afterwards too, but it subsided within a few hours and she was fine by morning. Lucky you having a vet 10 mins away - I have 6 vets 3 mins away....sadly I'd never use them in a million years. My vet is a good hour away.

So nice to see a beautiful girl like this. What a lovely colour she is - I bet you are chuffed and I can just see you running out there with barely anything on and wellies LOL!! Sounds just like me!

As for the stallion....well what can I say!! He is really lovely!! What a stunning pedigree he has! You have to go for it; especially as he is LWO clear.

Ooooh I'm getting excited for next year now LOL!!!!

she's adorable and mum looks so proud. How lucky was she that no harm came to her in the woods. I bet that gave you the fright of your life didn't it!! Maybe she should have a 'lucky' type name or Mae /May for time of year...
