She looks great on a horse still as well. I bet she was some rider in her younger days.

I've got a 5 year old. All being well we'll see each other out, riding wise. I'm not sure I cba to still be riding in my 90s, if I last that long.

She remembers winning the Beaufort ladies’ race on Farm Hill, who was 25-1 with the bookmakers but 80-1 on the Tote. “Someone said ‘that horse came through like a dose of salts’,” she said. “My husband Peter had 10 shillings in his pocket and didn’t put it on; he went to the pub that evening and they all expected him to stand a round!”

Best reason I can think of for putting a bet on a horse is that the OH is riding it. Not that my OH would ever take part in a race. It's difficult enough for me to get her within five yards of any kind of animal, even Tabitha.

It is a pleasure to ride so not something one deserved medals for.
Many others in their 80s who would want to ride have instead been in isolation away from the horses they ride?
I took a headcollar to the yard on 10 March last year and we havent left home since. To protect the NHS they say but to protect ourselves as well.
I was hoping post vaccine to ride in mid April but now even that doesnt seem certain.

Back in the late 90s I went to a lawn meet with the Beaufort that was an 80th birthday party for an amazing lady who was still hunting sidesaddle. I thought then that was something to aim for, maybe this lady was in the field then too and thought the same!

Huge respect to her, she's out doing me, and I'm only 33! My past as a downhill mountain biker has left me somewhat damaged, and I was told to reconsider that and horse riding if I didn't want to end up with the mobility of an "old woman"... if it was her mobility, I'd be well away! I'm off to go find some slippers and learn to knit...

An elderly friend of mine continued to hunt twice a week up until she was 87. She has a fall one day, and whilst she was in hospital her children sold her horse. It was the worst thing they could have done, she went downhill very fast after that. I don't think she ever forgave them

My first riding instructor as a kid was in her 80's when i started riding and as a teen i would still see her out and about, funnily enough she did endurance. She was epic and i have fond memories of her scaring the life out of me and teaching me so much at the same time, she was very old school. She was riding into her 90's back then. Long gone now i imagine but i remember her so well and her two geldings, a big chestnut who was the love of my life and Jasper a massive appaloosa who was just awe inspiring. She used to take him up the bank of an M4 motorway bridge to catch up on hacks, its was vertical, lol! She was only a tiny little lady and both her horses were big!
