if your horse ripped the rugs off another..

Friends of mine just left a new yard after 6 weeks cos of this, her poor horse's face was getting bitten and scratched to pieces too....rubbish.
Ours sometimes get ripped rugs but there are a few in the field who will hang off each other's rugs and also quite a lot of trees etc overhanging, and its not an awful daily problem.
If it was def my horse doing the ripping I would offer to repair and then seperate my horses I think...
 
This happened to me last year at my old yard. In the winter they went out every other day and my friend's horse ripped my horse's rugs to shreds every time they went out. Having had to get 2 new rugs a week for 4 weeks (yes really), I couldn't afford to do this anymore. Yes, I wanted my horse to be turned out but there's only so much you can afford. Friend didn't offer to repair or replace rugs so I was stuffed. In the end, I asked YM if mine could go out on his own... Which he could - at a cost of course and for only about 2 hours at a time

What are you doing to try and prevent this happening?? Anti bite spray on the rugs etc.??
 
I've got this problem at the moment too, all 8 of my rugs have been ripped by a friends horse. There's only 2 of them in the field and people have seen him do it so can't blame anyone else. Owner offered to pay originally but I felt too bad to take her up as it was happening everyday - wish I had now as now she doesn't offer!

Solution - ask owner if you can have one of her rugs to put over the top of ur rug or instead of ur rug, that way her horse will rip her rug. This is what I did and very same day her newish rug came in shredded. She was fuming but didn't have a leg to stand on. Now she's given me one of her old rugs and I put that on top of mine. Hers can get shredded to bits and be binned at end of winter.
