Ok so i am thinking of getting a tack pack for my 505, any experiences with them at all? Any good? How do they attach? Do you have to take them out when you unload? Is there plenty of room in them for everything?
Thanks in advance, feel free to pm me if you like? ;):cool:

I know a couple of people who have them and have ended up taking them out and abandoning them!

For a start they are in the way if you want to hang a haynet in the front of your trailer.

You have to take it out to use the front ramp.

THe space is limited and you will still end up with most of your equipement in your car. Also, if you put your saddle in there and then leave the trailer (at a show) how secure is it? At least if you put the saddle in your car your car would be locked.

I'm sure some people have good things to say about them, but I have never been tempted to get one.

Our tack pack came with our Ifor 505. I go out with my friend and her horse to charity rides etc and have found the tack pack useful. It takes both saddles, bridles and our hats. Plus numnahs.

You do have to unload it before the horses but you can have a haynet in for each horse.

We also have a top grille, so with that and the tack pack it makes it really difficult for my horse to nip my friend's horse :)

We hold it in place during transit with a bungee cord and lock it in the trailer with a long bike lock.

On the down side I have to take my sheepskin half pad off of my saddle for it to fit in the tack pack - it is a snug fit.

We don't leave the tack and horses unsupervised anyway, so no problem that the saddles aren't locked up.

Hope that helps :)

I think they're brilliant :D

We can fit 2 cob size bridles, 2 pairs of boots, overreach boots, two 17.5" saddles and a full grooming kit in ours. It sits at the front and is tied in, and a haynet just sits on top.

It stays in the trailer permanently and we just put the tack on before the horses.

I did have one for my 510 but ended up selling as boxers said limited space and had to take it out when wanting to unload, although thats not too much of an issue it was lack of space that made me sell. Didnt have problem hanging a net.

I just found it didnt carry enough. Bit of a squeeze holding 2 saddles (dressage & GP) and and 2 bridles etc if at a ODE and ended up abandoning it more often than not and putting tack etc in the 4x4.

I did end up buying a tack trolley like this one http://www.robinsons-uk.com/products/search.asp?keyword=trolley&x=0&y=0#sku.44004 but still tend to put everything in the back of the 4x4. If you have limited equipment though its ideal and easy to manoeuvre. I secure it to the empty half of the trailer (I only travel one) with a bungee to the front breast bar.

Never regretted selling the tack pack and didnt lose money on it (I bought it 2nd hand and sold it for what I purchased it for £150).

As for securing it, I just used a bungee cord around the handle to attach it to the front of the trailer.

i have one for my 505, its a bit annoying if you have it at the front and you need to take it out every time your horse comes out (ie you come out, tack up, warm up and show, come back into the trailer, come out to do another class, back in for results, back out the prepare for travel back) but i have mine like this:

it's quite hard to see, but it's attached by those bits of elastic with hooks on the end to the holes where breast bar goes at the back of the other partition, its as secure as the usual way :) also so your horse can't chew/bite it. its great saves a lot of space in the car, as it holds saddle, bridle, hat and other things like whips and saddlecloth.
