Well this new one is miles better than my old one, the dealer said the first ones had been trouble but they had changed them and Im happy that I d be looked after if there were any probs. The new one tows far better than the 510
I've recently bought a brand new ifor williams HB511, and I absolutely love it Have had no problems so far, horses load easily into it, it is easy enough to tow, haven't noticed it being noisy. I am very happy with it.
I agree with earlier posts - Neither! Ifors - think Asda or Tesco; some other makes such as Bateson, Wessex and Rice Richardson - think Waitrose or M&S. Plentiful supply doesn't necessarily mean best option. Having said that Ifor/Asda acceptable but if you want better then I'd do more homework and look at other makes.
I live my ifor 510 I also notice be it Scotland Yorkshire Devon cornwall or in between the majority of trailers you see are ifors. And that includes the old ones, there are several good condition 15yo in our yard.
They also keep their value.
That said I see the benefits of an equitrk however the stability would really worry me even the tyre size when compared to the size of trailer. Pity it's a great idea!
I purchased a second hand 511 in January and I am very pleased with it.
I was originally set on buying an Equitrek but having spoken to two people who have them both said they wouldn't buy another as they had both had axle problems one of which caused a blow-out. Both advised me to buy an Ifor Williams.
We looked at all the new trailers. Very tempted by all the pretty colours, etc., then went and bought an ancient (at least thirty years old) wooden thing. Not sure what it is
We've taken it apart and it's nearly back together now - frame painted, new floor, new brakes, new partition in the offing (using the old one for now), new electrics and lights, new tyres (weight rated).
It's a three horse trailer - we're contemplating having just the two horses in it and making the front section for getting changed, etc.
Sorry, gone on a bit(!), but just wanted to say that it's possible to get a very solid and sound trailer, just as you want it
