Hi there, just wondered if anyone can help. We are in the process of try to buy our first trailer. We have been offered an ifor Williams HB505R. It has a new wooden floor, electrics, brakes all fine. We have travelled in it before and I know it's history. They are wanting £1800 for it. I was told that this was too much, but I can't seem to find any ones cheaper than this. I was also told to stay away from wooden floors, but it is brand new.

Do you think this is a fair price.

thanks very much

How old is it? Most have aluminium floors now (mine has, and it's 11 years old). If the wheels are the originals they should have the year of manufacture stamped on them. What style is the trailer - centre pole with split partitions, or one long partition?

I would say it sounds about right for one with a wooden floor, but obviously it depends what condition it's in aswell.

I personally would never even load my horse into a wooden floor trailer, even if brand new, but I am a worry bug. :-)

Depends on your budget really, but I'm sure you would be able to find an aluminium floor trailer for around the £2000 - £2500 mark.

I sold my 505r last year for £1000. It had a steel floor which was solid but heavy and everything else was working great after my oh Had put many hours into replacing the ramp, brakes and electrics. It was about 20 years old and didn't have a front ramp but £1000 still seemed reasonable for a fully working ifor trailer. I bought my new 510 2007 model for only 2600 so it might be worth upping your limit and getting a newer one.

Thanks for all your replies. I am gong to check the year, I know it has a brand new wooden floor. Does seem a bit over priced. Not sure about the partions. Why does this matter. Sorry if that's a daft question. My gut feeling is to stick with an aluminium floor. It's minefield this buying a trailer lark.
We have a nissian x trail, I have been assured that this fine to tow a r
Trailer and one pony who weighs about 400 kg.

Any advice on this would again be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The partition will help you know roughly how old the trailer is. The newer ones had the central pole with split partitions, so you could swing the back half for rear loading and the front half for front unloading. the older ones like my 505 had a single heavier partition which wasn't as easy to move for loading and unloading.
