Hi all,
Hope someone can help.
My IWT trailer has some water damage to a back panel which needs attention, so I thought I would get a replacement panel but they no longer come in white :(

So can anyone tell me...before I start taking things apart needlessly... what the panel is made up of...eg plywood between the white coating and the inside padding...and can I replace the middle of the 'sandwich' and have the white panel back on the outside? The panel has not had any damage...it is the 'filling' which has the issue.

Many thanks in advance :)

Watching this one with interest! It is the outside panel next to the jokey door I need. I think they are made from sheet aluminium that has been anodised (?), but I'd like confirmation.

Now I don't think they are sheet ali. Simply because I saw on facebook (ok so not gospel I know!) A lady put a warning for people to check their Ifor panels as carefully as floors after her horse managed to get a hoof through what turned out to be a completely rotten panel.
several others then commented on finding the same.
chipboard or ply I believe

I am pretty sure the front panel is anodised aluminium as it apears to be affected by some sort of corrosion. It's a second hand 505 and it looks as if someone has gone over from inside with a hammer and nail making a lot of small puncture marks from the inside to the raised pimple points outwards. Yes, it is rather odd! I'll take a photo. I can quite understand that the side panels might be ply with an outer skin, like a kitchen unit. Aluminium would tend to bend, but the front panel is narrow so less danger of that.

I would imagine marine ply. Thats what most are made of, with some sort of coating or outer layer.

Just had a close look at mine and I agree the side panels on the outside do seem to be made of some sort of marine ply with a coating on the outside, like a kitchen work top? The front panel on the right hand side of the jockey door seems to be ply with a coloured aluminium coating of some sort. It is a lot thinner than the side panels which appear to be about 20mm thick. I'd need to start dismantling to be sure.

I think it depends how old they are. Mine is more than 15 years old and the side panels are made of ply. I was advised to seal them were they join the metal frame to stop water getting in and warping them.

I have it on good authority that the side panels are made of ply which is bonded on to aluminium which is then coated in some sort or resin in blue/green/silver..etc...so the ply and the aluminium cannot be separated :(

That's more or less what I've heard.

I would hazard stockboard or Buffalo board - ie resin coated ply - being a pretty good replacement. If you were going to be really flash, you could always bond a sheet of ali onto that....quite possibly making it better than new.

Interesting to see if IW are hot enough on social media to post the definitive answer here....
