Hi all,

I have an ifor williams single trailer for my 15.1h welsh section D cross.

Is it correct that the breast/breach bars go diagonally across rather than straight across, and if so, why is this?

The single trailer I have should hold a 16.2, but with the bars being diagonal my little pony struggles and panics a bit because he is so wedged in.

What are the reasons for them being diagonal?
Why not straight?

Has anyone else had problems?

Thanks.

Never noticed the bars being on the diagonal in the one I have borrowed in the past. Given that I've had a 16.3 ShireX mare that takes a 6'9 rug in there (ok it was a bit of a squeeze) I strongly suspect that either you are doing something wrong or there is something wrong with the trailer

How long have you had it and where did you get it?

Really, I must be doing something wrong, are you able to measure yours and tell me the length?

Seriously confused.com, I have tried many ways and they only go in diagonal!

I bought it from a trailer dealer in Leicester, its in fab condition

Hmmm, have you registered the serial number with Ifor Williams themselves? They will be able to advise you on what bars it should have in it.

on my bar the hocks on the end, one is slightly longer than the other meaning you have to sort of lift, twist at an angle and then you unhook the other end. Both ends of my bars are not the same.
You have to lift one end out first you can't just lift straight off but it was still straight when in place.
Check yours out...maybe the dealer gave you the wrong bar and gave you one for a double trailer?

yeah, mine have two different ends, but i cant put them straight, i have tried and a few others down the stables have. Bit Strange!
so do you put the side with the little curve or the one with the pin in first?

Curve one first then lift the bar up towards you. Twist so the longer hook is on a slight angle. Push towards the hole and then drop in the hole
It's tight but its straight.
Make sure your sides haven't warped/dropped on your trailer.
Is it still under warranty or take it back and ask them to show you how to fit it so you can either see how they do it or to prove to them that it isn't fitting right.

Measurements from the blue bit to blue bit is 44 inches
Measurements from metal to metal is 48 inches

I've tried again on there is no chance i would get it straight without damaging the inside of the trailer.

Sedgemoor Chaos - are yours the same size??

Thanks.

Hi

From metal to metal mine is 47 inches (ish)...sounds like yours is longer.

Mine is just over 47 inches but deffo not 48.

I would get in touch with either Ifor or your dealer.

Just a question, i understand having to use a front breach bar but do you need to use a rear?

I've always been told you have to use both.

Good thing I know someone who can weld and is going to sort it out for me. :D

Its like 1/2 an inch to an inch difference

I seriously think it's because its like brand new, everything is stiff on it, even the ramps / top doors / jockey door and all the rubbers

Thank you for your help
