It's a good thing I didn't have dogs out with me today - I might have got done for illegal fox hunting

:D

LOL - the other day I was riding along and a fox shot out of the hedge and charged up the track. My grey pony bounded off after him despite the absence of hounds and zero other evidence that we might be out hunting!

btw, i saw the video of your pony jumping into the water on the "does anyone want to ride my horse" thread, can we have some more vids please?

:D What a photo!

:D

It could be arranged... If you really want to see him  :D

Sounds like your pony is very into his hunting :p legend!

Mane on both sides? :-)

What a brave foxy and pony!! x

Yes, mane everywhere. It all stays on the right when it's groomed, but at this time of year there's no chance of that happening! :p x

Yes please, I would really like to see more vids of him - me and my grey pony are coming to east angular tomorrow as it happens (stansted way) and if I spot him in a field I shall kidnap him........;)

My pony went autumn hunting all of 9 or 10 times this season and she ONCE managed to be right behind the whip on a very quiet mid week morning when hounds picked up a fox and chased it across a field (before it got away safely :)). Until we saw that fox out hacking I had no idea she'd even registered what we were doing out at 4.30am on a foggy morning when I should have been fast asleep. Seriously though, who on earth has a horse that chases foxes??? Oh yeah, me :o

I call HOAX. :D

If it's not, then that is the fattest fox I have ever seen.

Looks more like a collie to me :D

Back in the days when I used to shoot the odd rabbit (or 20). I was sitting quietly at dawn and the edge of a hay field, facing a pony paddock that was being dug up little by little by fwuffy cotton tails.

Without a sound, a fox appeared out of the long grass, and as I spotted him, he spotted me. There was a split second when he realised that I was a human, and had a gun, and then there was an almost a cartoon moment when he sort of moved to one side, in the 'erm, I think I'll just go this way' sort of a move as the tried to saunter away without getting shot (I was neither equipped or inclined to shoot him, but he didn't know that).

It was one of those rare moment, like when your cat falls asleep and tumbles off the sofa, when an animal actually looked embarrassed. " Oh the shame of it, to be outstalked by a ....human"

Thought I could spin that out for a few more posts yet

Ha ha! I did think it looked odd but didn't think you were cheating! :p :D

Hey! He does not look odd! He's just... not a fox :D

Oh no I believed you! What I said really did happen to me, I'm not a troll I promise

Haha I'm sure it did :) I on the other hand, am cheating horrifically :D

Slinky I shall definitely be looking for business partners :p :D:D

Sorry to be a spoily sport.

It was the width across the shoulders and the white feet that gave it away.

BTW: If anyone wants a horse hair toilet brush, they can have some of Harry's mane.

He likes a good joke does my 'fat lad'.

Great photo :D I like him a lot. Good thing I don't have space, or you might get a shock at an empty field one day :p

Not many folk biting anyway :o

I thought it was quite convincing at least  :D

If you squint your eyes a little, he does look a tiny bit Highland :D

I actually saw his doppelganger at the very last Royal Show at Stoneleigh. He was a Highland that had won all sort of showing prizes. Stupidly, I didn't make a note of his name.

Other than the "devil's marks" on his forehead and near side hind. yes he is similar  Highland breeders get very wound up about white  Mine both have small stars though...

He's just the English equivalent - the English Equine 4x4 :D

Haha well your pony is cool. His ears are always forward when he jumps.

I also liked that 1sec sneaky pic of your cob with his head on the ground having a munch just as you land.

we had a fox shot across the paddocks last year at midday, the kids were both riding and shot after him, but were foiled by the 5 foot fence, which the fox disapeared through.

The fox in your photo just seems to be plodding along, (not sure that was the case though) I guess you were just quick with the camera, or did he stick around

He stuck around.

Mostly because he's actually my dog ;)
