When I bought Roo she had a Dutch gag, and a cavesson noseband. I found that she could be very strong and would open her mouth to evade being asked to stop.
So I started riding her in a dutch gag with a flash noseband, but I only had the gag on the second ring, I eventually moved it onto top ring.
Last week I changed into a D ring snaffle and took the flash of the bridle, and she has been fab

I don't like to use strong bits and nosebands, if I can avoid it, so I'm glad we're in 'normal' tack now

This is a great post, well done! You always hear of people asking for a stronger bit so it's so nice you have solved the problem with a milder one!

Good for you, i have mine in the mildest bits i can find and still have great brakes.
