:D Totally pointless post really but I'm having a 'I LOVE MY HORSE!!' moment!!

Thursday went XC training with the riding club, I was useless and extreamly worried about even the very small jumps so decided not to bother attempting them, so we just pottered around doing the ditches, sunken road and steps. Kane by the end was beside himself with frustration so my much younger braver friend got on and blasted him around the course, he was amazing and flew over everything!! Seeing a hairy cob jumping some of the rather scarey open jumps made everyone stop and watch!!! I was so proud I nearly wept but also extreamly annoyed with myself for being scared when he's honest, brave and wonderful!!

So Saturday I went around our little XC course at the yard and I made myself go over the tyres, logs and fallen tree and felt much better about it. I need to relax and trust him, when I panic and interfere he can't do his job and then leaps and that's what scares me! When I just let him go he's pure gold!!

Then yesterday loaded him up with a friends pony and went for a lovely potter on the beach!! One of my dogs came too and it was just luxury!! Gorgeous sunshine, not too many people around and the tide WAY out so we spent a couple of hours paddling and having lovely long canters (and gallops!) along the beach!!

So anyway just a pointless post cos I'm the proudest most grateful woman ever, I cannot believe this lad who I was told one day would 'kill me'!!! Has turned into the most amazing, brave and fun creature!!

2 weeks til camp....I can't wait!!!:D

And picture of his utterly appauling clip which was done in a rush wednesday night before XC training!!!

It's funny isn't it when it takes someone else to really show you what you've got , I have this amazing ID gelding which I'm scared to ride out on my own and only a little less nervy in company but I have a lady who comes and boxes him off to lessons and SJ and then finally to take the biscuit she came over yesterday and hacked him out , on his own , for 1 1/2 hrs on a route he's never been on , the last time he went out on his own was 10 months ago, and he was good as gold - i need some serious shaking and I think this could be just the push i need to pull my self together and get a grip - last week i decided to sell him but i think i need to seriously look at my own faults here!! Sorry about the ramble I'm glad to hear you had a great day - all these sort of stories give me hope that one day I could be that person!

Fantastic ! Love your post. Your horse is worth his weigh in gold and very handsome he is too. Have a wonderful summer, you have unlocked the secret of having a good horse- trust them and let them show you how much fun it can be.

You can do it!! I've had Kane 7 years now and the first 3 or 4 weren't fantastic, I couldn't hack out alone and pretty much all I could do was hack because everything else scared me or I thought he wouldn't be able to do (don't listen to 'experts' is my advise!!!).

Since moving to a proper livery yard with people who encourage and tell me to 'just do it' I've done everything with him, and the final hurdle was this season we drag hunted!!!! I've always wanted to do it but never felt I could, but he was amazing and he loved it..so did I!!

Honestly you can do it, it's just time and patience and someone to push that little bit!! Hopefully the more you see the lady who rides your lad achieving it will make you jealous enough to get on and do it yourself. :D

I meant to say , your boy looks fab , i had a fell x which i loved and was more my size , but he was very young ( Only 4 when I had him ) and started bolting with me , which is why I'm in the state I'm in... and then the fourth horse in my sig , a beautiful PBA she was lovely but very forward going , so after 4 years of having her I decided to sell her and found a wonderful forever home with an older lady who had bred , backed and had Arabs for 40 yrs , but out riding one day the little mare spooked and gill feel off and was killed instantly , you can imagine what that does to your confidence.
Anyway the clip looks fine , functional and god doesn't the mud come out easier!!

I love you post.

I too am I proud owner of a hairy cob. And my boy, like yours, is the most honest caring, wonderful horse in the world!!

I plucked up courage to try XC on him. I picked a mini event run through my RC. To my horror we were the only cob in the group of very capable TB/ eventer types!!! I nearly went home, but we stuck it out. My wonderful boy took me over every jump we attempted! I was so scared, my legs were shaking, half the time I couldn't move because I was so nervous, but he looked after me. Like you I have to trust him to do his job - which he loves.

Hope you have fun at camp!

Thank you again for your post. It nice to know we are not alone!!!
