I'm back from my hack

I thoroughly enjoyed it once i scrambled on. Rocky is a good old boy. He panics if you get on with a step etc or get a leg up - he is a rescue we could not get near for a year. He stands quietly if you get on properly. Rocky is 16hh and i am 5'2" and would have been shot years ago if i was horse. I had to let the stirrup leather down far enough to get my foot in the stirrup - very far down! I hopped up, well half up. Tjhe stirrup was so far down i couldn't get my other leg over. I was scrambling and my daughter had to grab my leg and pull me over.

We were in hysterics and Rocky just stood and took it bless him.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and am going to try and make the time in future.

Rocky is so quiet to ride. The one my daughter was on came to us for breaking schooling as her owners could not do a thing with her and were desperate for help. Its a Polish Warmblood import that did not understand English and liked to go backwards as fast as she could all the time.

It was her first hack and i think that is what brought the nerves on. She behaved very well i am happy to say.

Glad you enjoyed it.

If you're going to make a habit of this your're going to have to invest in one of those hunting stirrups. Designed especially for old gals like you!

I love hacking at this time of the year. The flies aren't too bad yet and the weather is glorious. Glad to hear you had a good time. Think you may feel the burn tomorrow though!!!

I'm so pleased that you enjoyed it and had a nice time. The first time on a horse and out on a hack in a while must have taken guts. I'm still not quite there yet and stick to the school.

I am old and creaky too and I nearly fell on my bum yesterday as I got off my pony who is all of 13.3hh!! My knees just wouldn't bend as I hit the floor.......I was telling them to bend but they just weren't listening

Good old Rocky! He sounds just my type of horse. I wouldn't even attempt to get on my lad without a mounting block and even then it's an effort!

lol i hope its the first of many. I did enjoy it but it is so tireing, trying to summon up the energy to cook tea.
