We had our first ride today and Chad was a star. We only did a bit of walking and trotting as my poor muscles aren't up to much else at the moment not having ridden since last June.

Chad had a couple of 'moments', one when OH brushed against a hedge and it made a noise Chad didn't like and again when we got home and the electric gates clicked before opening. Other than that he never put a foot wrong and even forgot to snort several times as there were so many interesting things for him to look at

We even got through the crossroads with traffic lights that he used to hate and be a complete dick about with no problems at all.

I am so pleased and so happy to be riding again, although I had forgotton how wide he was and on dismounting thought I would never be able to close my legs again!

Photo below. Please note I am not yanking his mouth, just pulling him up and my legs are sticking out at a weird angle as I can't wrap my legs round his rather rotund sides

I had Chad on loan last year but he went back in June. My old girl Ellie retired at that time so I haven't had a horse to ride since. Got Chad back on 23 December but due to weather haven't been able to ride until today.

They are brill boots, can't fasten the top tape up due to fat legs but at least I can get them on!

I feel like a Thelwell cartoon! I really can't make my heels make contact with him at all and if I lose my stirrups I can't get them back as I can't bend my leg round him to retrieve them! He is only 14.2 but his girth more than makes up for his lack of height, lol!
