I'd been stuck in pony jail for a while now, with the yellow mare with the small ears and the old bay mare. It hasn't been all bad, because I'm actually in charge of pony jail, and it's really nice not being bitten on the bum all the time! But even though I get first dibs on the haynets, there's never quite enough, and the grass is terrible.

My foot stopped hurting a few days ago, and I got to go for two long trots: the first was somewhere I'd never gone before! There were lots of places with roofs on and nice plants outside, and there were some really big flat fields. We didn't actually do much trotting on that long trot; we mostly just walked. Three other horses came too, and it was really nice! :)

The second long trot was in the woods, but a horse from somewhere else came to visit just for me, so we could go for our trot! He's orange, and he's a bit like the Noodle-Head arab that used to live in my field. It was mostly a very nice trot, except when we argued over some grass, and when it hailed on us, and then at the end we got even more wet, because it wouldn't stop raining and we couldn't hide anywhere. When we got back, the Carrot Lady took me in a stall and wrapped me up in a red fuzzy blanket thing, and I didn't mind at all, because I was so wet. But then I got put back in pony jail.

Yesterday I had to go out twice: first to go see the Scary Chicken Flap Man, except he wasn't there, so we made circles instead. She's really wanting very fast circles these days, except when I try to trot faster, she gets annoyed, so I really don't know what she's after. When we got back from that, I tried to tell her that I really wanted to go back in the big field with my friends, but she put me in pony jail anyway. :(

Later, she pulled me out again, and it was a bit weird, because after she brushed me and fiddled with my mane and got me ready to sit on me, she just left me in the stall, while she rode away on the Orange Field Boss!

They did come back, though and he got some food (how come I never get fed? ), and then he got to go in the big field (he never has to go to pony jail), and we set out for the square place with a roof on. We made lots of circles, and I visited with lots of nice people. Then I got a haynet! :) Finally, after a long wait, the Carrot Lady came back, and she put one of those ribbony flappy things on my bridle! I don't like them very much, but this one wasn't very big, and she was careful, so that's ok. It was a red one. I saw she also had a green one, and I think maybe I'd like that better, because grass is green, not red. But I didn't get that one: it's for the Orange Field Boss. Typical! The Carrot Lady says that the red ones are better, though. I tried to eat an orange one once, and it was fun to nibble on, but it wasn't really that tasty.

Then we finally went home! I asked again if I could please go in the big field and not the pony jail, and this time, she gave in! So now I'm back in the big fields, with my proper friends! :) :)

I got one of those ribbony things once. We went a place with lots of horses and ponies. Some were making circles and other were doing jumpies. I was worried it was a sale as that was the only time I had seen so many horses in one place. When I went in the ring I kept shouting "Don't buy me, I like where I live". I think the ribbony must be to say you haven't been sold. I think my lady must like me because she was happy with the ribbony thing and said it was because I have a nice mane. I really don't understand her sometimes.
Still must go, there are 2 new mares in the next door field & I need to make sure Bobby doesn't talk to them until I've decided whether they are ok.

Love Pickle

Dear Pickle,

I don't think the parties where you get ribbony flappy things and sales are the same thing. I have a whole bunch of ribbony things now, and I have come home to my field each time! So I hope that's good news for you! :)

The bad news is, that I'm in pony jail again. :(

Dear Carrots,

I was up to day 180 in captivity. I was getting very bored and had no hope of ever being getting out of pony jail. However, I was suddenly allowed in a special paddock made for me by my mum and my auntie - they kept telling me I was a pain and they were in agony as they had covered it with the whole of the old topping form the manege (the wot?) anyway surely I'm worth it. I decided to race around it on a daily basis - I even managed to fall over and cut my knee so the nice vet lady with the polos could come to see me again. It didn't hurt much - I don't know why mum burst into tears. Wimp.

Mum said she was about to have a nervous breakdown (the skidding when it rained didn't help) and turfed me back into the big field (result). However, I was bored after the first 6 hours and waiting at the gate for my tea and stable as I now realise a) you have to share grass b) when it rains you get wet c) flies bite you. Mum says I am unbelieveable and that it's a good job I like being in as I am fat (she is very rude sometimes).

Chaska xx

Yay for the Big Field dearerst Spooky one :). I think my human wishes she had a pony jail to put me in - she did not seem the slightest bit pleased at my rather fat leg on Thursday. I do not think she was too pleased with me when, by sheer will power alone, I managed to make it go down, just before the vet arrived :D. Just no pleasing some people!

Try and stay in one piece dearest one.

Yours, always in my thoughts, The Dizzy One

Dear Chaska,

I'm sorry to hear you had to spend so long in high security pony prison! Your special paddock sounds a bit like our pony jail: not much in the way of grass, but room to run around. I hope you stay healthy now!

Dear Dizzy One,

many thanks for your kind wishes! I hope your leg stays healthy and slender.

I got interesting treats today: they were white, round, and sort of wavy, and just small enough that I could fit a whole one in my mouth at once. They crunched really nicely, and tasted even better than the red square thing. The Carrot Lady said they were "prawn crackers".

So,
Many Prawn Crackers,
the Spooky Pony
