Well after a rather traumatic evening last Tuesday and a week off work with a bad back I have returned slightly battered and bruised but much better!
Heres how it went.......
Lovely evening last Tuesday, me and Mum went for a hack round the fields, just walking along chatting away, when Archie decided to stand up on his back legs, it was the biggest rear EVER, I think I screamed coz I thought he was going over on me! Anywho, he didnt, but as soon as he went back down he proceeded to bronc like a wild stallion possesed!! Id lost my stirrups and Arch was broncing out of control and I couldnt keep my balance any longer, so I launched myself off the side! Ouch! Hurt my leg and shoulder as Arch trotted off to graze at the top of the hill. Caugh the little bugger, took him to the school and got back on. Was on for all off 1 minute when next thing I know Im being lauched across the school and hit the deck!! It was so quick I really dont know what happend, but I couldnt move for quite some time as I was in agony with my back. I finally managed to get up and removed some of the sand from my face and hobbled back to the yard. I didnt fancy going for a hat trick so the lunge line came out!!!!
As I know this is not like Arch at all, I had the vet out on Sat to check him over and we think there is some thing wrong with his back end. Hopfully just muscular and nothing too major. Vet gave him a big injection of super strong anti-inflammitry and we are hoping to try him on the lunge in some tack at the weekend and try and get back on him!
Poor little man, he's really been in the wars lately, but fingers crossed he's on the mend now!
Its gonna be a while b4 we're out competing again, so if anyone has or knows of anyone who would like their horse show-jumped, Id love to hear from you. But only sane horses at the mo please, I dont think I can take anymore crashes just yet! Getting old now, dont bounce!!!!
