Today was Moonie's first intro, it's also a very exciting day as at 5.30 tonight, her owner is coming up and we have agreed a price so I shall hand over the money and she will be officially mine
Anyway, she was a bit insecure warming up for dressage- calling a bit and not really concentrating particularly well but she did settle a bit. Went over and she tried really hard, did some lovely work and got a few sevens but also some very green bits, particularly in the transitions but it's all coming as her balance improves. Stupid mum went worng, so we got 43 but really she did a 42 which I think is fairly respectable for her 2nd ever time in an arena.
Sj next- Now this really was a big whoopsie, I've never gone wrong before so I conclude that my brain must be tired from uni exams and not really switched on as I jumped 1, 2 then no. 6 for some completely absurd reason and got us eliminated. They very kindly let us re-start and I used it as a n educational round- the height is no problem, she just gets a little cocky on the approach so we were practising waiting for mum (not a fun game in Moon's book!!) I was thrilled though because she was dead straight, really up for it and loving the jumping.
I hadnt bothered to walk the xc course, figured I could prob work it out on the way round- until I realised they'd got some stupid numbering system and had done away with the pink and orange numbers so it was quite tricky to tell what was PN and what was intro. She started ok- green to the first couple but once you get to the fence, she's ultra careful and really started to get into her stride and happy. I accidentally jumped the PN fence going up to the water (TE no.2
) and then she decided that the great big dug out chalk pit filled with murky water was not where she wanted to go, thankyou very much! And thus our day ended!
I'm so pleased though, got over-proud mummy syndrome again as when she gets the confidence to be out there on her own I know she'll be super- she doesnt question the jumps but obv has the baby reaction to water and ditches.
