Morning all.

I have just booked my little JRT bitch in to be neutered tommorow.

She has the survival instinct of a possum so I am worried she will snuff it under the knife.

I know I am doing the right thing getting her done as I dont want to breed from her and seasons make her soo miserable, but I am worried somthing will go wrong.

I know I am being daft so someone kick me please.

You are being daft! But I totally sympathise as I am sure will everyone else, when Buffy was booked in to be spayed at 6 years old I was a nervous wreck. For a little extra cost you can ask your vet to run pre op bloods, which would pick up any underlying condition which could cause a problem. I had always have this done. When an older bitch of mine was booked in to have a mass removed off her mammary gland she seemed a picture of health but the bloods showed her liver function was quite poor so they didn't operate. A month of treatment and she was booked in again, bloods all clear and she romped through the surgery at 10 years old

And the mass was benign, she is still bouncing round at 11 and a half.

Good luck for tomorrow, but I would def ask for bloods.

Thank you x

I know its a routine opp and I am being silly, but she has no survival instinct whatsoever.

I will ask them to do bloods I am sure she is fine but I would rather know before if there is a potential problem.

Should I ring them today or just ask them to do it when I drop her off in the morning?

My vets have a bit on the consent form which you fill in, but I always ask as well. Wouldn't do any harm to ring today, and then remind them again tomorrow.

Honestly, try not to worry too much

JRTs are tough little doggies even with the survival instinct of a possum

She'll fly through

Yes, she'll be sore for a few days but soon bounce back
