After a long time looking I think I've finally found the horse for me to learn to ride on so I can go out with the rest of the family.

I'm not a complete novice and can ride a bit so went to see him on my own last weekend. He was lovely, the first one I've seen that ticks the boxes and I've taken to. OH thinks I should just get him vetted and buy him. I've insisted we go back and OH (who really can ride) tries him first. Owners are prepared to wait. If OH approves I'm buying him.

I'm 53, I should not be this excited.

Why shouldn't you be excited? I was like a thing possessed when I found Ari and I'm 43!!

I hope that it all goes well and that you will be telling us all about your new horse come the weekend

Thanks. Depite living in deepest Highland Pony territory I've always fancied a Haflinger. I've tried and rejected a couple, as well as Dales and other breeds for various reasons. He is big for a Haflinger at 15.1h but really ticks all the boxes.

I could put up a link to the ad but not sure wht the protocol for that is.

It's sods law, I've been to Yorkshire to try horses and then find this one is close to home. Same with the kids, been to North England to look at ponies and almost always end up buying something fairly local.

Deja - Vu I sold the bay in my sigi about 6 weeks ago and delivered him a week last sunday to a lady who sounds just like you. I only had her look at him as although he was on a forum I hadnt actually put him up for sale. She had lost all her confidence riding and wanted something to show county level and do dressage as and when she was ready. I couldnt convince her that he was perfect for her and she took her time (i was in no rush we still competed him until summer champs) she had lessons her husband came her friends came and then she realised he was perfect. I knew all along but then he was mine and knew him. She got him last week and has not slept since she is has been so excited. I miss him loads but take great solace in the fact that I know she loves him as much as i did.
When the seller loves their horse like i did they will wait till you are sure and it certainly sounds like you almost are - good luck and most of all have fun!!!
My new boy landed yesterday hes on my earlier post if you want to look at him. (page 2 now i think)
