Quote from the butcher when handing over a big bag of bones today:

"Wow, no need to buy you a bunch of roses or a box of chocolates, I've never seen anything put such a big smile on a woman's face!!!!"

(He was a few years below me in school if anyone thinks he was being over-familiar :p :p :p)

And also found a new supplier for minced whole chickens, tripe, turkey legs and heart/kidney. He started looking at me funny when I walked into his freezer room and started jumping up and down :o

He is also starting the mature salmon Autarky which is cereal free and low protein so I am going to put B on that...I am a happy bunny!!!!

Do you think I need to get out more?!

Do you think I need to get out more?!

You said it! ;);):D

Seriously, I wish I could find a butcher here who'd part with a few bones for Bear. You'd think, with the Germans being avid meat consumers, that the butchers would humour their dog-owning customers with a few free bones every now and then. We have to compromise with 'suppenknochen' (soup bones!), and these have to bought and paid for.

Having said all that, OH went with our neighbour today to pay for next years firewood, and on the way home they stopped at a local farmer who produces and slaughters his own meat (organic beef). Neighbour made his purchases and also took home two bags of bones for his JRTs. OH and neighbour left, having placed orders for the next slaughter, in April. Until then, Bear will have to make do with whatever we can pick up in the meantime........:D

He is not a patient dog! :(:D

I'm with you, sister! I too gasped in awe at the local supplier's freezer, especially when he showed me the key and said 'Help yourself'. Swoon!
