Hello All,

Just wondered how many people have full time jobs and try and ride everyday!!

I'm finding it so difficult riding everyday after work everyday esp as it take me about 45mins to drive there in rush hour

I used to do it - I don't any more.

I cheat. I pay someone to ride the horse twice a week for me, and I just ride on the weekends. By the end of the month I will ride in the evenings, but quite frankly I just don't have the energy at the moment.

Don't kill yourself.....

i agree it is hard but because my mare is more of a pet we just go out when we fancy which is usually most days but if its rubbish we dont bother!

Hey, I have a full time job and by the time I get to Lou's yard it's 7.30pm and then i usually get to Eric by 9pm. It is definitely hard, esp in winter (winter feels like it's gone on forever) and as much as I love it I think sometimes I get so tired I think I need to sleep for a week but I can't give up riding and can't give up my job at the mo due to financial reasons so guess I'll keep going till I find a better solution! I do understand though!

Yeh i agree winter has gone on forever!!!

I honestly sit at work day dreaming out the window thinking about riding in the evening in summer - makes it so much easier!!

I was thinking about getting a youngster as well as having S, but i really dont think i would be able to keep awake at work if i did!!

Decisions decisions!!

Do you have two horse's at the same yard or one at a different yard?

I was just dreaming this morning of the first time the girls will be out at night and not wearing any damned rugs. It will seem like heaven. This winter has not been cold nor wet but it still seems to have gone on forever. I cannot ride my mare who is in foal and although I know exactly where you are coming from being tired and getting home at all hours, oh I do so miss it.

I am glad I am not the only one. Last night I canceled my lesson for the first time ever. I just didn't have the energy to ride. I went to bed at 8.00pm.

I try and ride my mare 5-6 times a week and am struggling at the moment. When I don't ride I end up feeling so guilty.

I has been too wet for turn out the past couple of days, so I know today I will have a difficult ride, not the motivation I need to get out there is the 1oC weather!!!!

They're at different yards but are close by! I ride a few horses in the area but they're all fairly close to each other

I must admit I'm quite lucky as I'm self employed and to a certain extent I can be flexible about working hours, but this winter we moved house and I got very behind with work so haven't had so much time. This week has been bliss as I've been able to ride early every morning. I could definately get used to it!!

I hate Scotland sometimes, it always rains - looks like waterproofs for me tonight!!

Gonna be a struggle getting S out his stable, he was huffing last night!!

Yes I know how you feel! I am self employed and work from home alot but still struggle to ride in the week like I could 2 years ago. I have no school etc either so am all road work and the only time you can do that is in daylight hours. When summer gets here I will get up at 5am and ride before work!!! Mad but very pleasant!

I try but I've given up - TBx gets lunged every other morning before work then ridden at weekends and pony gets lunged/walked out in hand most days. Saying that the school finally defrosted yesterday for the first time in a week so it was high jinks and lots of squealing - think I might just stick to lunging this weekend....

I remember a Teenager at our Yard who told the other liveries it was dreadful she had her first job and was expected to work until 5.30 and then had to ride her horse.
I know at one point I had to have time off work due to stress and that was because I had a horse to ride and a parent in intensive care. My doctor was lovely he said go home do your garden and ride your horse its the best medicine I can prescribe!
Its hard work sometimes but when the chips are down at work at least you can think of a purpose for being there.
