Before i get jumped on ..

YES i was the one that had a arguement over a stable with anyother livery and yes she got the stable!

Alot of my stuff has been going missing even though the other livery in question got the stable that i wanted for my colic prone mare
mad.gif

Yes i was upset, but YO said he would extend and convert the feedroom next to Honey and this has all been done and Mystis moved round and settled!
grin.gif

End of it all .. or so i thought!

Loads of my stuff has been going missing, brushes, feed, treats ect. i dont have any locked storage and my bins arnt lockable so its to be expected at a livery yard i s'pose.

But Mysti started coughing reacently and i decided to buy a respitory horselyx for her, so bought a mini one first to se if she would eat it as shes quite fussy, and i let her try it then put it in a zipped pocket in my grooming kit wall thing, well out of her reach
crazy.gif

This morning i went up and theres a empty pot outside, WITH the lid on and its not just been eaten as its clean and anyone will know that its very hard to leave a pot of horselyx clean because its a circle pot lol, and how Mysti would get the lid back on .. me dont know
grin.gif
So i was confuzled.

Heard a bang from the other liverys stable so went over to check horse, horse was fine but my likit had been tipped out the pot and was in his stable

I just dont understand why shes still got a problem with me she got what she wanted, and i didnt argue my point any further after YO said that he had promised it to her.

Arrgh im soo peed off, its like taking candy from a baby

As a livery person i know how annoying it is when stuff goes missing esp when you work hard for it and others seem to have all the luck etc. I would not let her have the satisfaction of knowing you were annoyed but i would make a list of everything that is missing. have a really good look for them in your stuff to be sure you have not got them then go and see the YO with empty lickit tub too and explian to her and ask her to sort it and ensure other horses owner reimburses you for lick. I would also be inclined to get a tack box or I have one of those garden cushion boxes plastic and about 6ft long by 2.6ft high and wide and put all stuff in there and lock it. they are around £35 but it will pay for itself in stuff you dont loose.

I would challenge her and ask YO to speak to her. I wsould also ask her for the money for the lick and tell herif anything else goes police will be informed. Also buy a lockable feed bin!!!

Got one. Was in Honeys stable but i put Mysti in there for a bit the other day and she kicked it and its completly died, there really useful though, will have to get another one

Also, put your name on EVERYTHING! Including lickits! xD (marker on the lid AND base of tub) Permanent marker or even a band of coloured tape or something. Means when stuff shows up elsewhere, you know for certain it's yours and there's no discussion over it!

Get a lickit container fill it with Horsepoo and then let her take it!

Whether anyone has a problem over stabling or any other problem, that has nothing to do with stealing, I would make it very plain that if anything else goes missing you will be calling the police and making it an official complaint.

Totally agree with all of these posts BUT.... problem is, without proof you can't prove anything! Seeing is believing! A quiet word with the YO wouldn't go amiss! I would probably keep my things at home if this continues to happen, you can't afford to keep paying out!
mad.gif
... but it's a sorry state of affairs when it comes to someone stealing a lickit! In one word .... PATHETIC!!!

No wonder you are annoyed! Easy for me to say, but try not to let it bother you too much - especially when that livery is around! Don't give her the satisfaction of knowing her trivial, childish, pathetic tactics are having an affect on you xx
wink.gif

i agree with what every1 on here is saying......similar thing happened at my old yard and me and another friend ended up leaving as our yo was to nieve to see the real culprit...... good luck ...

I can see why your so angry. thats like waving a red rag to a bull. Id definately challenge her when your in a confident mood and speak to yard owner. if that fails go through all her stuff when shes not there and see if you can find any of your things. see how she likes it when the boots on the other foot
smile.gif

install a spy camera?? or paint tar on something that looks interesting but isn't, so when she touches it, she gets tarred!! (or anything sticky, gluey etc..)

Put up a large notice.....saying that if anything else of yours goes missing you will be reporting the matter to the police as it is theft...pure and simple.

Speak to YO as well......he/she needs to know what is going on.

Well out of order.

And if that dont work.....punch her

(ok, perhaps not....but thats how I feel about this sort of stuff)

Sounds like your YO needs to come in with his size 9's and read the riot act.

What an absolute disgrace your yard sounds to be......

.

Take everything home with you or buy one of those big plastic boxes that you can get from DIY stores to bob your little bits and bobs in like brushes/lick-its etc and drill a whole and bob a little lock on there, personally I'd slot her one but I guess that's not the way do things
grin.gif
arrrh I hate theives!

It really annoys me when people help themselves to your belongings all the time, when its yourself that's always going out and buying/replacing your own stuff, whets more annoying is when they clearly have more money than you yet they can't be ar*ed to go and buy their own gear, much too easy to borrow yours all the time!
mad.gif

sorry that turne into a mild rant

i would personally go to the yard owner if anything else happens, i can understand, the only place i've had stuff go missing was on a large livery yard a couple of years ago and some of the people there i didn't know well, whether or not people just used stuff and forgot to put it back or if they truly meant to take things i'm not sure but other than that i have been lucky. i feel for you though,i have my own yard now and i can never find things, know its my fault as i am one for leaving things in odd places at times!!!!

This is and will always be unfortunately an ongoing problem. It drives you nutz and you end up getting petty over it all and its not even your fault. I used to go into a rage if even a carrot was stolen!!!! I would lend anyone anything IF they asked but 'takers' BEWARE of me! :-)

So....if you go to www.waltons.co.uk/garden-storage-unit-titanium-finish-7x3 you will see a 7ft x 3ft (if you have enough space for it?) secure, metal, rodent and weather proof lockable unit. It's £119 so far cheaper than one of those small lockable tack boxes that cost over £250!

It's not the easiest thing to put together so allow 2 hrs! I have a very clever husband who put mine together. He replaced the screws at the front of the unit where the lock and hinges attach with rivets is are completely tamper proof. He even bolted it to the concrete base....voila. I kept two saddles inside and all my gear and still had plenty of room. I kept cleaned rugs on the roof and it was completely self-contained. If I had my own livery yard, I'd install these in a tack room and everyone gets allocated one with their own padlock. No more arguments over stuff going missing or squabbles over "you've got more space than me!".

Ok so you may not want to go to this trouble and expense. My friend recently had the same problem with her wheelbarrow and fork going missing so she asked me to create a LARGE sign (I have access to a Desk Top publisher and colour printer) which said something like "my personal possessions are going missing, please DO NOT take them!".

Good luck :-)

I would be asking her how my likit got into the stable with her horse. If she says she also bought one ask her where from. If she starts getting smart tell her that you have spoken to a Police Officer ( me ) and the tub is suitable for fingerprinting. If she says the Police won't be interested point out that this is one in a series of thefts so yes they will.

I would be getting myself a box for my belongings like everyone else has said and fitting the lock with an alarmed padlock. They are not expensive either, my father bought one for my garden shed.

I can't stand thieves. no matter how small the item is. How petty though, sorry but people who find the time to do these sorts of things to another person must be sadly lacking in life to have to resort to it.
