Hi,
So unfortunately my horse has got an infection in her right hind leg, first of all the vet came and prescribed her with 5 days worth of sachet antibiotics for her feed. This didn't really do much good.
The vet then came back and prescribed her with 5 days of pen and strep IM injections, she is now on her 5th day and although better, she has not fully recovered so she is having another 5 days worth of jabs.
Here's my question, when I have been injecting her I aspirate at the beginning to make sure there is no blood, I then go on to give the injection. However quite a few times a very small amount of blood has come into the hub of the needle in between pushes of the syringe. My vet told me it is nothing to worry about, it is just blood from the sight, but other horse owners have been scaring me saying if there is any blood whatsoever I need to start again in a different place.
Any advice on this matter would be much appreciated.
Thanks!!
(p.s I have hit a blood vessel once which was completely different to this as there was alot of blood as soon as the needle was inserted)
