I've not done a self indulgent smug post of this type before. But I got my new mare last Monday, she's only been backed a few months and we have a treacherous hill to our house with horrible traffic at the bottom and I have to lead her up and down because it's too steep as she isn't used to hills. She's been ripped from her home in Towcester, brought to rainy lancashire, up a rocky hill, been given a new companion and started being ridden every day. I've had her shod on front for the first time and she behaved impeccably and we have been gradually getting closer and closer to the traffic every day. She has been quite scared, but keeps trying. Then I went out with a friend on his horse today and she was totally brilliant. I am just so pleased with her! I had a horrible year with my last horse and have been worried about buying a new one, but she makes me smile and the joy has come back into riding again. Isn't that just great!!
