Really self indulgent post, i am a bit down at the mo, i have been looking for a horse for a while, found 2 i really liked went back for second viewings, had vettings done and they both failed!

Its costing me a fortune in vettings alone - never mind petrol! :(

I posted before and had a few dealers recommended to me but they don't seem to have what i am looking for :(

sorry for moaning, i will try to cheer up quickly :)

Looking for horses is such a pain isn't it!?

Still, at least you had the vettings done. You could be sitting at home with a lame horse that you'd just spent money on, so the failed vettings are not a bad thing!

Good luck with your search - and if you find any cheap showjumpers send them my way! :-)

I feel your pain! However, think of it as it isn't meant to be. I remember MANY years ago when i was 12 and we were looking for my first pony of my own i got sooo excited about all these ponies we saw yet so many failed the vettings I was gutted. However, I ended up with the best pony I could have wished for - although god knows how they hid his windsucking at the vetting but hey ho! Lol

You will find the one, honest!

Annoying as it is ,if you dont look so hard you tend to find them!!There are alot of time wasters its just somethng that comes with the industry.Just out of interest,What are you looking for?Good luckx

I had two failed vettings before I found my new horse who (touch wood) has been perfect since I've had him so please don't give up! I used an agent who was worth her weight in gold in doing the original contacting, she knew all the right questions to ask, had no problem in asking those awkward questions and even foiled someone trying to get rid of a horse with a serious sarcoid problem! Would defo use her (or another agent) again if I were looking.

Yes, as post above. You WILL find your equine soulmate, or rather they will find you ..... I've been so blessed to have had three lovely horses, all of which "found" me. The first was my first pony; we'd gone to try out a brown horse called Prince and this other little grey was there and fitted me like a glove, I just "knew" he was "the one"; my first horse literally appeared in my field overnight (a friend had forgotten to ask me if it was OK to bung him in there, and .... he was for sale!!!); and this one I've now got came as a loan from a trekking centre and I didn't intend to keep him, then I looked in those big eyes and that was it!!! Having said that we've had to work out a few issues, but we're definitely a team and well bonded.

Going and looking at endless horses is heartbreaking and soul-destroying, and so awful when you think you've got the right horse and the vets report comes through and its not what you want to hear; we all do feel for you so very much, BUT as someone has said, at least you know the problem and aren't sitting looking at a horse which is only going to cause you more heartbreak in the future.

Your right horse will come along, yes I know it seems unlikely at totally discouraging at the mo but just keep giving out the right vibes and your soulmate will come along.

A far worse thing than no horse, is the wrong horse. You don't want that, so its worth waiting.

Thankyou all for your replies - its like you all say, you get soooooooooooo excited thinking should i arrange the stable and order this, that and the other and then the report comes through and it all falls down :(

Im going on holiday soon so that will give me a nice break and then i can start again refreshed and tanned (hopefully)!

Event Rider - looking for a cob of any colour and safe to hack any age but probably over 5 i am not v experienced you see, need to be honest with myself there & i have 3000 to spend. Can travel but don't want to go too far. I am in Lancashire.

Thankyou all so much - you've all made me smile tonight

:)

How big do you need? :) These ones are smaller but seem sweet:

I'll have more suggestions at some point but my computer is being really slow for some reason!!

Hiya,

Im 5"6 and 10 stone so probably a chunky 14h upwards.

I have looked at the ad for the black mare a few times but, the pick where she is stood (pic no 4) her front fetlocks look quite low, not sure whether that is because she is on a hill or not?

the second horse is gorgeous but they say they are looking for an experienced home and i don't think tahts me - i in no way want to waste any one's time - suppose a phone call won't hurt though would it?

i think there's a difference tho between knowledgeable and experienced.

If you really liked her, went to see and decided to buy and she passed a vetting etc why not invite the owners to come and see where you'd be keeping her, and to meet the instructor/YO etc so that they could see you had plenty of support to take care of their (obviously very special) horse?

I think she's super!

I spent ages looking for a horse. I actually found my new one when i went to look at one, she was is same field as him. Went for 2nd viewing and then arranged a vetting. Really thought she would fail as she has a bow tendon and after comments i had off a lot of people about it, but passed (not quite with flying colours!) you'll find one eventually and it may not be one you expect to find.
