For the last year or so I had been looking after and riding a friend's nf pony, Theo.
He was a happy hacker, and very convenient seeing as I only had to pay for his shoes and could use him whenever I wanted. However, he was on the small side and quite hard work! When I started my NQT (teaching) year, I only had time to ride at the weekends and he was lucky to find a loving home on full loan elsewhere.
I felt a little bit sorry for myself, and didn't ride for several months. However, recently I decided to do something about it and today I went for a nice long hack on Ashdown forest. It was freezing cold and rather icy, but so good to be back in the saddle! I rode a horse called Bernie, and was amazed at how forward going he was
I'm now in the process of sorting out a part loan for weekends/holidays, so hopefully this will be sorted by next weekend and I will have (almost) my own friend again.
I'm really hoping that perhaps summer or next year I will finally be able to think about my own, after 15 years of waiting
Just thought I would share with people
