I am sick of scrotes who buy horses when they have no land and then tether them where ever they can. They are all over Bradford, and there have been several in bolton at the moment.

FFS if you have no where to keep a horse, then leave it at the sales where you blatently got it from.

There have been 2 tethered around the back of some scrub land, and one of them has just been found strangled to death.

It's ridiculous. I have reported tethered horses elsewhere before, which have been all rubbed from the collar etc, and nothing has been done. Now this little thing has died.

Why do people do it?

I think having a horse is a status symbol to many people. Apalling and i cant comprehend it myself but many people think they can look after themselves.

It's so very sad. Check out the Animal Welfare 2006 act - quite a bit about tethering, if that helps. It's highly "regulated" now, maybe get onto the council and demand something is done - in the meantime are the RSPCA involved with the poor youngster ? huge (((hugs))) sm x

A lot of people kicked up a stink for years about the tethered ponies near Merrist Wood. I see that they have a fence around that bit of common land, now, so the ponies are at least untethered. I used to hate driving around Longfield (Dartford) as there were lots of them there, in all weathers.

The RSPCA were with it when my friend rode past.
I will have a look at the animal welfare act 2006 thank you shysmum.
I just don't see any need for tethering at the side of the road/scrub land.

If it jumps out of the field so needs to be tethered within a field, and is checked daily then fine. But if it's on some random scrub and gets loose onto a main road (which all 3 places i have seen popular tethering places are very near) then it's dangerous, and another obvious danger has just been highlighted. Especially as they are often tethered without any company and so many horses would obviously be unhappy.
