Some of you may remember my post about how I couldn't get hold of my usual farrier so had to use someone else who stripped my young girl's feet and gave her an abcess, well I got my usual farrier out and he removed the offending shoe, he said that she would have to wait six weeks to allow her hooves to grow before another set, which we did. I gave her sedalin this morning and she walked out of her stable really drowsy but as soon as she saw the farrier's tools, freaked out and wouldn't let him anywhere near her! She had been good before all this happened, I am now having to resort to having the vet sedate her. Has anyone had this happen before and is your horse now ok with farrier or always sedated?
Thanks
Anita

Yes, same sort of thing happend to my mare, my farrier was really good - keeping her feet low to the ground used to help, as soon as you lifted them up to high she reared and pulled back.

She did get better but not 100%.
