I'm so glad I don't own a 'ladies man' gelding!

I have started to feel sorry for the gelding in our field who has all the in season, tarty slut mares throwing themselves at him! He's the only gelding along with my 2 boys out there in a herd with 5 frisky mares and he's looking slightly bored of them shoving their bums in his face:rolleyes:

However I much prefer my 2 boys who don't bat an eyelid at the mares and keep themselves to themselves no matter how many mares they are surrounded by:oThe bachelor boys together:D

Getting out of the gate with 5 mares attached is proving difficult for the other livery but is excellent entertainment!

My poor boy is the only gelding (dont count the baby who isnt sure what he is at the moment:) ), amongst 4 mares. Fortunately he is allowed a nice big paddock to himself but has to put up with them throwing themselves at his electric fence, peeing over the boundary line and generally flirting with him. He is totally disinterested, even a little bit scared of them and stays as far away as possible, whilst they vie for his attention and squabble amongst themselves. They did once break into his paddock because obviously he has more grass than they do, greedy girls, and I found him, all alone, in their paddock whilst they gorged themselves. He looked quite relieved when I moved them and made his fence into a double strand job!! Poor old Che.

A new mare has recently joined out little herd and she adores my poor gleding a little too much ... she seems constantly is season and she literally tries to eat the same blade of grass as him, he hates it .... should be fun when my mare comes back at weekend .... Im sure she'll get ride of her!!

To get up to my field, I have to walk through a very tarty mares field, and unfortunately my gelding thinks he's casanova :(

When she's in season, the only way I can get through her field is to lead him in a bridle and take a schooling whip with me.
Even when she isn't in the field, he'll often walk through it rolling his top lip up, to try and scent her

Fortunately his field's a long way past hers, and he isn't bothered up there, but I think there'd be injuries if their fields were next to each other.

Yep mine thinks he's brad Pitt an jumps all the fences to get into the field with the mares an he is a nightmare to handle when a mares in season

:D My stallion is a gentleman and takes no notice of the mares other than to chat them up from a distance, he wouldn't dream of challenging his fence.

Some of the mares on the other hands are utter slappers. I know when they are in season because they stand by Charleys fence and tart at him, he might only come up to their bellies but he is a real ladies man.

One of the mares jumped a 5' wire fence last year (twice) to get in with some colts. Thankfully she did at least choose a well bred lad to rape. This is the result!

What a lovely foal! What colour is he/she?
My gelding is a complete gentleman, that is until there are any mares within sniffing distance. He is stabled two along from a lovely 32 year old stallion who squeals like crazy if any girls are around and I think my boy is trying to compete with him at times.
My fella is as quiet as a lamb and will stand while I'm tacking and and getting on him, but the minute a girl is nearby he goes a little silly and wanders off while I'm mid mounting to investigate any mares withing striking range. Even bribery with his favourite xxx mints doesn't work and he is off to chase the girls.
I hacked out with his gelding field mate and he was completely bombproof. Last week we went out on the same hack with a mare. He was spooky and looking for any excuse to cuddle up to her and look for reassurace and at one point was nearly in the saddle with her rider. Picture a lovely, well educated cob mare with a hulking 18.2hh baby brain gelding trying his best to cuddle her in the middle of the village high street with traffic held up both ways.
Not sure but I suspect it could be more like surrogate mum that he is after rather than looking for a girlfriend. Poor boy, he's such a baby mentally but such a big brute physically so I think I've got my work cut out for me for the next couple of years at least.

My OH old mare use to be a horror when in season, not only would she flirt but given half the chance she'd wrap her head and neck around you and nibble you on the bum

Gusbear, Thankyou, the jury is out on whether he actually is lovely or not  He may just be very slow on the uptake, but it is like Groundhog Day with him, eg. halter "OMG! It is going to eat my head off !" and even down to him trying (and failing) to kneecap me daily. I have changed his name from Finnegan to Finn Again, and Again, and Again :(

Sorry, distracted, he is palomino, we were fully resigned to a bay or a chestnut so blonde was a bit of a bonus.

We had a mare who thought she was a stallion.. no exaggeration! She was top dog in our little herd and so convinced herself she was from the other sex  she would pace up and down the field perimeter guarding next doors mare (whom she was madly in love with) and when taken from the field she would stand pawing, snorting and yelling back at this mare! Who in turn was fooled by our mares act and would not leave her side and squirted over the fence at her persistently.
Not only that, but when a friends Stallion came for summer grazing, we had to keep them at opposite ends of the field as if left in adjacent paddocks they would box at each other through the fence  She was a nutcase :D
Now though, in her new home she is a very calm and sensible mare who just flirts with other geldings! Silly moo
