I've owned my gelding for a year now and we have come such a long way! He is like a new horse compared to how he was when I first got him! Couldn't touch his legs at all, would rear up when being led. Very nervous to begin with, then got on the cocky side.
He was then lightly backed and broken last summer in the menage with the help of my dressage instructor. (he was not easy!!) September I turned him away as he was a little weak and needed to bulk up. He had a long winter living out doing pretty much nothing.
February I decided it was time to start working him again. The problem was, I was at a yard with no facilities (you may have read my posts about this) and with the rain at weekends, dark evenings and no school I was finding it a struggle so I stopped trying.
I found a lovely yard with a space 5 minutes away from me with a school so decided I should move him there. That was just over a week ago. I couldn't believe how quickly he settled at the new yard as he's always been a stress head! He loves his field mates, gets to play with the big boys! Loves being stabled again and having all the fuss and attention. He's just generally really chilled out, relaxed and happy!

Sunday I decided it was time to tack him up again, lunge and get on board. He was super. I literally just walked him round the yard whilst being led but I was pleased with that as he'd not done anything since Sep 2010. I did this again on the Monday.

I then had my instructor out last night, unsure what to expect or how much we'd be doing. Well, I got on and within minutes I was trotting off the lunge round the school and he was fantastic!! Didn't put a foot wrong!! I can't explain how happy and proud I am.
I thought I'd never see the day when I first ever got him. I can't wait to ride him again already :)

Here are a few pics taken from last night....
