About 6 months ago some of you were kind to reply to one of my posts, Short story horse was diagnosed with Gastrocnemius tendonitis (sp) and the vet wrote him off, thought i would have to have him PTS.
Since then have been under the care of a different vet, who was prepared to give my boy a chance, we had cartrophen injections and shockwave therapy over a 6 week period, the leg is now about 1/4 the size it was, allthough still a lot bigger then it should be

but had our last scan last week, the vet is really pleased with the improvement, and said clinically (sp) there is nothing else he can do now it's try and see

We need to finish exercise programme for tendon injury and take it day by day and hope that everything goes ok, this might sound bad to some but to us this is the most hopeful it has been

so this weekend i am going to get on him for the 1st time in 8 months

and i can't wait.
He has been in for 6 1/2 months so far and will go out mid april in a small paddock, i'm so excited for him and he has been so good being stuck in a stable for so long (he will be 6 in june, so only a baby).
Sorry if this is self indulgent but i'm really excited to ride my horse again

That's great news, good luck getting on him and I hope he behaves himself!

So glad you got a 2nd opinion, it's something that more people should be brave enough to do. It certainly saved my friend's horse too.

I'm having a glass of one, just one as I'm on a diet too!!!

Thats really good news...
Give yourself a huge pat on the back , for giving him the bestest chance and not giving in, well done you X
hope your riding him in no time!
