I went to the yard this morning to find my horse had gone.
I loan him from another woman on the yard for my sister and pay all his cost etc. They were moving yards and he was going with them but that wasn't meant to happen for TWO months!!!
On top of this they have taken all of my rugs and tack for him as well as other yard equipment such as haynets and brushes. We estimate the value of this to be about £600 so I really can't afford to replace it.
We think they've left early hours of this morning and nobody knew until I raised the alarm with a very shakey call to my yard manager, the whole yard is still in shock!
Is there anything I can I do to get my things back?

Yes, If the equipment taken was yours and not hers you can report it as stolen!!
Also if you were loaning and had a correct contract inplace this should have contained a schedule of equipment that belonged to the horse and therefore stay with the horse, you can claim back any items that were not listed as belonging to the horse!

Do you know where they have gone? if you can get in contact and say did they know that they have also taken your items and can they please bring back or if possible on your side go and collect as soon as you can.
Does seem sneaky to me not even giving you the chance to say goodbye.

I cant believe anyone would have the nerve to take things that isnt even theres! Sorry to hear about the loan ending so abruptly Definatly try and get your things back - surely that is theft x

If you weren't loaning the horse & someone took your equipment you'd be calling the police, so can't see how this differs. It is the unlawful taking of your possesions. As for the horse, very sad for you but don't see what can be done, as it would be more distressing for the horse to be moved again. I would, however, also contact the police about this unless you have proof the owners took it. Otherwise it could have been stolen & you are assuming it was the owner. This may also work to help you track your possesions.

*Update*
I have managed to get about 90% of my things back but only via a 3rd party intervening :S (managed to get some scary looking friends to help me out ;) )
Very stressful and a little scary but did it in the end! Thanks for all the advise :) x

This happened to me when I was a teenager. My bridle, two rugs and grooming equipment dissapeared along with the horse one day. Fortunatly they had only moved 5 mile away so I made them dissapear again without notice.
