Alfie was hit by a car tonight :(.. I think he got disorientated running through a hedge and kept running the wrong way, straight under a van. The one bit of amazing luck was that it was an RSPCA van and the poor woman was more shaken up than me. Alf came running back to me on 3 legs and RSPCA lady drove him to my house (100 yds) then I took him to my vet. I sat with him until the sedation took effect and have just had a phone call to say he has escaped with superficial cuts and quite heavy bruising, is in quite a lot of discomfort but nothing worse. He is staying in tonight where they have a nurse and vet on site and can hopefully come home tomorrow. I am now sat here shaking and going over the 'what might have beens' He is one very lucky pup, albeit a sore one. Could he have a few of your healing vibes please for a swift recovery. Now I know hes staying in I shall open a bottle and say a small prayer.

Jeez, you couldn't make it up, could you? What are the chances of that!

Soooo glad he's OK, go sink a drink!

How awful:eek: No wonder you are still shaking.
Hope he recovers quickly and please don't torture yourself with thinking about what might have been. It didn't.
Give him a hug from me - sending lots of healing vibes:)

Thank you all for your good wishes. I have just collected Alfie from his overnight vet stay and he is very dopey but in one piece, thank God. His xrays show heavy bruising and swelling mainly to his left hind leg, he also has scraped his claws on that paw and is generally a bit subdued. Vet says he has been a very lucky boy and has sent him home with painkillers and wants to see him next weekend just to be sure. I have now stopped shaking but dont think I shall take that particular route again for quite some time.
