Ollie goes to his new home on saturday and I dont know if he will load.He doesnt get stressed just stubborn.I managed to get him on lorry once for feed but he wouldnt go back on.
Tatty is going to be on her own in new paddock from saturday and they have really bonded.Im worried she is going to tear paddock up and Im in borrowed field .
I took Ollie out first today and he called and she called and raced until I went back to get her.Theres nothing I can do for another 2 weeks until we move her back to livery.
Not sleeping worrying about timing .
Just called loaners vet for final reference and sounds like he has found lovely home.

I'm glad the vets have confirmed everything is ok with the new home. I'm sure Ollie will eventually load. You need to be firm and positive and have people around who are experienced and can help.
No suggestions for Tatty I'm afraid, unless you can borrow something temporarily as two weeks is quite some time.
Let us know how it goes and good luck x

Its not nice, but please don't make your self sick.

I say this but i'd do the same!

Ollie has found a lovely new home, so that one stress down. Loading have you tried with a benice (rope headcoller) it worked a miricle with my boy. Quick and smiple to make and use a few minities in a feild or school, to get the ground rules then try the box. takes the stress out for both of you.

And for your girl most will settle, has she ever been in the feild by her self before, whilst you where ridding. My sisters boy was as you descibe but has gone back to his owners and has settled by himself now, though he was very stress to begin with. which was painfull for all parties to see. If not can you not get her to the new yard sooner maybes as a grass livery or something.

Sorry last part does not really help

Its great news about the new home, really fab for both of you. Re loading, have you ever used a Dually headcollar? - Monty Roberts type of thing, did wonders for 2 of ours when they decided to be difficult loading. YOu have to do some groundwork first so they get the idea of the pressure / release but its worth it.
only thing i can think for Tatty is to get a companion for a short time (pity we're not nearer!

you could have a couple of ours) but maybe she will get used to it and settle down once he has gone.

As others have said you can stop stressing about one thing as you know Ollie has found a lovely new home.

Can you practise seperating them for short periods throughout this week, take one out of the field, then go back for the other etc and gradually increase the time they are apart? Hopefully them it wont be as much of a shock for your mare when he leaves?

Can you borrow a pony as a companion for two weeks? I would lend you my handy spare, but suspect you are not near enough.

I wouldn't be happy at the thought of your mare tearing round the field looking for her friend, so I would try to find something to borrow.

it must be hard.
Cant offer advice re the loading, only about leaving your mare on her own.

If you cant get a companion (which might in fact not work in such a short space of time as sometimes they just ignore the new one or they fight etc) I would just put boots / over reach boots on and just let her deal with it. She is going to have a stressy few days and probably wont eat a lot so perhaps give her some Pink Powder or other supplement which helps them maintain weight and even try a calmer. Watch for signs of colic etc and other injuries from looning around.

When I have been in the same situation I also rode my boy out lots to give him something to think about and tire him out a little, spent a lot of time with him just poo picking and pottering around, feeding him carrots etc. My boy pined for about 4 days looking longingly at the gate for ours on end after his comapnion moved away and he dropped a bit of weight but after that he wasnt bothered (and he became like a big dog with me following me around. My other pony then came back from the vets (she had been staying there for a week) and he was back to normal. He was obviosuly much happier with a companion of his own kind there but I have to say for those few short days after he stopped stressing about the missing pony it was quite nice not having him fuss about going out or leaving her. Within a day of my little one coming home he was back to normal (although he is still very loving - I think it brought us a lot closer)

Im going to take mare over early tonight but they only have night time turnout as our fields have been sprayed.I have very elderly mare in stable at end of field so that we can open top door for company.Shes going to pine for Ollie and wont be interested in her for company

She has old mare in stable that we can open top door this is in same field but she will be looking for Ollie.Im worried about her messing up owners field. If its too bad she will have to be stabled 24 hours a day but that is the worse scenario for me.Thanks for suggestions. Will try taking her over early tonight on her own.

Difficult to not worry about these things I know, but get yourself some Rescue Remedy and takeit regularly between you and Ollie leaving as it will help you feeling so frayed around the edges. For your mare is it worth give her a fast acting calmer like Global Herbs Supercalm so she isn't so stressy as well?

It sounds like Ollie has found himself a lovely new home and will probably load just fine

- I would let the transporter load him as he will be well used to all the tricks - if you say he is a bad loader he will probably just tootle on to show you up!!

I'm new - been lurking for ages but was finally moved to take the plunge when I read your post. Hope you don't mind me replying.

I was in almost exactly the same position as you are this time last week. One of our loan horses had to go back to his owner at short notice and this resulted in stressy TB with separation issues being left alone for the first time in ages. I was feeling sick with worry at this thought - just as you describe. However, put word out on the horsey grapevine that we were in need of a companion and a neighbour has lent us her Sec D as a companion. It was all very last minute and this didn't help my stress levels but everything has worked out really well. Barney is happy with his new pal and new ponio is delighting in his new surroundings. All good. So my advice would be to ask around - you never know what you might find. People are very understanding of these situations - horsey people will understand the situation and will surely try to help if they can.

Same issues too with anxiety over loading but decided to leave this to the transporter - as has been advised above. This defo for the best as couldn't see the ramp for my tears at saying goodbye. Just like you - I know he has gone to a good home but this doesn't make saying goodbye any easier.

Best of luck with all the upheaval and I hope you too are feeling better about things very soon.

I asked field owner tonight if we could bring another horse over for company she is going to let me know.
Im nearly out of tears lost my dog 2 weeks ago then my two boys moved out and house is going up for sale tomorrow.Ollie going is the last straw. It never rains but pours Ill be ok Im made of tough stuff its just anxiety. You should come on more often and join in.

My rescue remedy is g and t and will have good stiff one once I know he is safe and sound in his new home.Tats put me through the wringer today followed her 4 miles in a police car have a look at the post .
Transporter is supposed to be really good so will pass him over to her.Think thats good idea.
Im working on the turnout problem with field owner will let you know how that progresses.I asked if she could have companion.
