I've had a bad day. My little horse is ace. She's sound, sweet, gentle, lovely in the school, sensible on fun rides, generally fantastic, especially for a five year old. However, she's blooming ridiculous in traffic and by traffic I mean deserted lanes where you normally pass one vehicle every few minutes.
Today a small van tried to crawl past her, resulting in a giant rear but at least she kept going past it. Then we met a big black 4 x 4 which apparently she can't deal with at all, cue another proper rear along with a left hand spin, coming down half over a weed covered barbed wire fence.
Of course when she tried to move forward she dragged the bl**dy fence with her and has scared and hurt herself. I jumped off and she managed to get off the fence.
We made it home in one piece but I'm getting depressed that she's not getting any better and we can't go hacking without major traumas. She's no better in company and the roads aren't wide enough to be two abreast anyway even if she would stay on the inside of another horse. I'm not really after suggestions, just having a moan and feeling a bit despondent. I've now got her on a waiting list with an excellent professional for some intensive work, but whether she'll improve I'll have to wait and see.
On top of this problem, work's EMS pony isn't quite sound today for no obvious reason, which is something I really don't need either. Arrrrrrrrrrrgh, horses.
