Ok,so its a fortnight since her royal highness arrived. No 'major' problems, just general settling in,routine, allowed to be a horse stuff going on.

She is SHARP. Very highly bred, sensitive, loving and will go from calm to 'total meltdown' in seconds.

I'm thinking about putting her on a calmer to help settle her even further....

Global Herbs Supercalm looks great and would appreciate some feedback on this please.

I don't generally feed hardfeed,as I have one welsh b in foal mare that could frankly survive on the moors, this new girl who will hopefully be able to be ridden in the next decade or so ,and a 28 yr old companion pony which had a bout of seedy toe last year,so gets a small scoop of happy hoof when they come in.

So I was just going to put a calmer in a small scoop of happy hoof as no calorific value.

Opinions??

i dont feed mypony hard feed either but he does get very excited at shows so i was considering one of those calmers that comes in a tube and looks a bit like a wormer but i wouldnt see a problem with putting calmer in her feed just give it a try and read the instructions im sure it will do no harm :)

2 weeks isn't that long for her settle in really. Personally, I'd probably give her a little more time to find her feet before going down the calmer route.

Took my old mare a good couple of months before she started to really relax :)

Guess you could give it a try. I used equicalm on my neurotic sec d i used to have and i felt it had zero effect

I phoned global herbs earlier and asked their advice. They recommended supercalm in this initial settling in period....just a low dose.

I've been down to my local tack shop and got a tub,so will start giving it a try in the morning.

Can't do any harm :)

would def give more time, my mare took 3 months to settle properly and i used calmer thinking this was doing the trick, now shes nt on it and shes fine but it cost me 90 pounds in monthly calmers and all it was really was her settling in, she nt on any now unless competing x altho for taking the edge off i reccommend serenity calmer n vcalm, x
