I'm too short backed for a short backed body protector.

I'm beyond peeved.
I can't find a single body protector that will fit me in the back and the bust without being custom made. I really can't afford one right now, as I'm having to get a new everything for Cobby Wobble as she's finally lost her wobble *woo!* So after loosing 20KG and gaining some nice muscles over her unridden winter break (she had back problems causing very nasty rears but after lots of Pessoa'ing she has got back muscles) she has obviously changed shape. The two saddles I own don't fit me either, the GP is too short and the dressage is too long in the flaps for the Cobby Not so Wobble.

I want a protector to stop my back problems from getting worse if I tumble (and I will) but I can't for the life of me find a body protector with a 18"/45cm back, a 36-38"/91-93.5cm chest, 43"/109cm over shoulder and a size 4/6UK waist. The kiddy ones would fit me in the back and waist but wouldn't ever fit me in the chest, the adult ones would fit me in the chest but would be miles to big in the waist and back. The teen ones don't fit in the chest either.

I'm out of proportion to say the least as I have very long legs as well. Lets not comment on the hell I have finding clothing.
If by some miracle your the same size as me any you know of a body protector under or around £150 please do leave a link.

I bought my body protector at Badminton one years from Townfields. They put together a child's back piece and an adult's front piece and fitted the whole thing to me. I only paid the standard price.

Cheapest option would be to buy one that fits everywhere but down the back then just chop the bottom couple of inches off. If you are careful cutting the material at the bottom you'll be able to sew it up neatly afterwards

I would contact racesafe, I have finally invested in a racesafe BP and they are amazingly comfortable (I've never got on with any other brand), they will custom make one for you.

Another vote for Racesafe, im vertically challenged with a large bust also, mine had to be made shorter than the extra short they offer as an off the peg BP. They let me try on the BP's at a show, took measurements and had one adjusted and posted out to me. :)

I did similar - but at the Mark Davis Injured riders fund stand at Burghley. I have an aerowear riever body protector and the back is one size while the front is a size bigger.

I agree racesafe are probably your best bet, daughter has one because she is also incredibly short backed.

However, I do think it sounds like you are lucky enough to have your own built in 2 point air bag which should save you a few hundred pounds more. No offence meant, just trying to give you something positive to see in the frustration (from one of the very envious, wide across the back and flat across the front poor souls who also can't find close to fit)

I bought a Racesafe secondhand, opened up each section and cut off 2 inches of foam from the bottom then sewed it up again.

No offence taken Sunshine, gave me something to have a laugh about :)

I've found a Racesafe one that's practically unused for a good price, also been looking at the Airowear Outlyne body protectors? Are they any good?

I love my Airowear Outlyne - fits over my ample bosom very nicely without any squishing. They do different lengths and I was very pleasantly surprised to need a "long slim" fitting. I have never needed either of those sizes before! If I (at 5'6, but longish in the back) need a long, I assume the short must be for very short people!
