So, I'm currently horse shopping, and have been looking at ads for a few weeks now, bit sad but I go off pictures. In all I have seen about 3 that really stood out to me (2 of which were pretty greys:o)and I went as far as to contacting the seller, only arranged to go see one, but was unsuitable. But now I feel sick of trawling the web as nothing really stands out to me or is miles and miles away. I would be happy to travel but would have to stick to 90 mins away.. So if anyone would like to shop for me it would be much appreciated. I'm looking for ...

4 - 8 year old
mare or gelding
15.2 - 16.2
nice manners
allrounder
no vices/previous injuries/lameness
No rearing/bucking etc

i don't want something too lightweight so I'm excluding tbs but I also don't want something very heavy/cob like. (Nothing against either just not my type of horse) so probably ID or ISH

My budget is 3000 but would pay 3500 if it met all criteria

i just want something I can have some fun on, jumping, fun rides, local shows etc
thank you in advance !!
Edited to add, I am based in Lancashire :)

Umm I think you may struggle for your budget (except for perhaps a green 4/5yo to produce) finding something genuine that ticks all your boxes, at least from my experience in my neck of the woods. I know someone looking for very similar but more flexible on age, same budget and has been up and down the country with nothing she tried being suitable. I know you aren't asking for a world beater, but you are wanting what a lot of amateurs want and that drives the price up. I may have found one suitable for the lady I know to look at, through friends of friends but it may have already gone and its not even been marketed yet. Shes also wasted hundreds of pounds travelling round the country to view stuff 'not as described'. I'd imagine your best bet would be through word of mouth :). Sorry if this seems negative, I think you may well find something if you would be happy to produce a 4/5yo? :) but if not imho opinion I think you might have to compromise on something, be it age, breed or a quirk etc.

Working for a dealer of Irish ones last year, we'd sell what you've described for between 5 and 7k. The ones we sold for less than that couldn't jump a stick or had some sort of quirk about them.

Unless you buy really green you won't get that with your budget in the UK.

Thanks for the ads. I agree it's not the best budget, but i was thinking going into winter, a lot of producers like to save money and put their prices down, and there is proof there are some out there with the ads that are shown above and what iv seen, just need to find something that suits me. I am happy for it to be a little green as in needing reassurance, and more schooling. Just not green as in bucking/rearing or dangerous, which when I contacted 2 about, that is what they did. I think I am just a little impatient today as I'm missing horse ownership very much, but I do think something will come along. Thank you for all your views :)

I got pretty much exactly what you're looking for for that money. He's a bit inexperienced but not as green as the grass! I did look at 7 horses before I found him right enough ...

I had exactly your criteria except I wanted 15hh to 16hh. I found... Nothing in my budget. Nothing. As said above, the sorts I liked the look of were at least 5k in most cases. Anything in my budget had issues for the most part. In brief: one with a bursa/SI/couldn't be turned out with others (none of which was in the ad), one very footy, one smaller than advertised, and one with what can only be described as a major bend to the left and complete disconnect between front and back legs. I went smaller and decided to consider mares, and found one who hopefully will pass the vet on Monday!

One I would have gone to see which I was wary of being a bit much for me (I've lost confidence on my last boy) was this chap:

Garfield. Hes is up for 3800 on horsequest from what I recall, looks a lot of fun! A dealer may be prepared to consider an offer, it's always worth asking!
